What is your take on Trump helping to stop Carrier from moving 1000 jobs out of country? Do you believe he can continue this with other companies and do you believe he will even get some jobs to return stateside?

Also do you approve of him doing this?

Well, apparently the parent company (a major defense contractor) was promised some pork (aka Taxpayer dollars) to save the 1,000 jobs.

It takes me back to a time about 8 years ago when a man named Obama took some pork (aka Taxpayer dollars) to save 50-100,000 US Auto worker jobs by bailing out GM.

The only difference is that…oh wait….there is no difference. Taxpayer dollars are being funneled to private industries to keep jobs in the US.

Unless United Technologies doesn’t get the defense contracts. We’ll see.

Not all business-business relationships work that way. the providers of sheet metal to carrier would have to find someone else to supply or go out of business. Commodity suppliers like that are usually more local than finished product makers, which means they rely on top tier manufacturers like Carrier.

What was the sweetheart deal?

Development incentives and tax abatements like last time Carrier was planning to leave Indiana. Plus an in with getting more of the big fed money that Carrier's parent company makes big profits off of.

And even with that over a thousand jobs will still be lost. And Carrier can lay off the 800 or so Trump saved whenever they want anyways by paying back those tax abatements, just like they did last time.
