US announces it will allow Qatar to build an Air Force facility in Idaho​

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Friday that the US will allow Qatar to build an Air Force facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, which will host Qatari F-15 fighter jets and pilots who will train alongside US troops.

“The location will host a contingent of Qatari F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase the lethality, interoperability,” Hegseth said during a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani at the Pentagon. “It’s just another example of our partnership. And I hope you know, Your Excellency, that you can count on us.”

I read this a little while ago. I have to admit I don't get this. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I'm not sure how much Qatar can be trusted. I certainly wouldn't trust them to have war planes based in Idaho. I don't see any way to spin this positively.

It's like I said, it's not about selling people jets and then training their pilots (possibly to make even more money). US fighter jets, the brain-child of your top military research institutions, should be kept top-secret. This is so that if you ever have to go to war with these countries, you can rape them anally.

Send our military over THERE to train them on their air base, on their soil. So we can see what they have. Or maybe catch onto something they're hiding.

If you bothered to read your link, they are building a training facility on an existing US AFB. They won't own the whole thing. But it will create jobs to build the facility, and increase economic activity in the area. I see it as a win win. Your headline is a fraud.

But we have never, ever allowed any other nation to construct and operate a military facility on U.S. soil.

I read this earlier, and the Hegseth announcement. It is a done deal by these idiots, but it is a mistake. I simply do not trust Qatar or the people they could have posted here.

Qatar hasn't offended me. But I just don't think you should be selling them fighter jets. Now, if you are selling them to a proper ally like Canada, then yeah I can sort of get onboard with it. But an Islamist country situation in the Middle East who follows a completely different religion and whose people also look totally different? How can it possibly be a good idea.
