Putting the movement surrounding trump in historical context.

I've been listening to what Ruth Ben-Ghiat has to say for some time now. It seems unlikely to me fans of trump will be willing to hear it. They will no doubt find it uncomfortable and therefore turn away.

For those who don't, you'll find she makes some valuable, and valid, observations. Ones that help make sense of this period in our history.

I watched it for 20 seconds. First off, that lady is nuts and IMO her IQ hovers no more than 110. Second, they're basing their narration on the false and fluffed ideas left propaganda feeds them.

You guys lost credibility a long time ago, with your "what is to be", cry wolf and projections. Sure, Trumps coming after our democracy, and Gestapo, while the left proved to demonstrate these things are confessions.

Can you define the "trumpist movement"? You don't have to use your own words, since that's clearly an area of struggle for you, but perhaps a timestamp from the clip or quote from the transcript.
I don't struggle with expressing my thoughts, as you may or may not have noticed. I just find the requests to do so tedious when they are a way to try to diminish the thoughts of others I've posted with whom I agree. As you have tried to do.
There was no single speech or single moment marking the trumpist movement's ascension. Conditions were ripe when he came down the escalator. But it really took hold during the primary season leading to the 2016 election. Featuring the diminishment of opponents with childish insults, followed by rallies including the incitement of violence against protestors. And who can forget the racist remarks he made about immigrants. Those helped to ignite the fire.

Exactly. The far left Harris-Biden Cult had nothing to stand on. A senile old man and a drunken dipshit broad, and they pretended as if they were competent.
/----/ Amen.

The trump movement is akin to the allied forces taking Berlin.
Except for the fact that 'Allied Forces' never took Berlin. Soviet forces under Stalin did.

But you are right. It is very much like that.

You want us to watch a 25 minute video? Seriously?

His own former Chief of Staff would agree, as would many others who have worked in his administration.
You mean the ones selling books or trying out for a spot on a loon channel.

As you yourself have pointed out the attraction to him and those like him is not without historical precedent. Which is the thing Ben-Ghiat has studied. What we are observing has been repeated in other countries at various times of their history. Caused by similar conditions in existence in the US right now. The parallels are not hard to identify, but they are difficult for some to admit to.
Can you at least give us the high point of her opinion. Trump = Hitler, MAGA are sheep?

um the Soviets were part of the Allied Forces. Two months later the remaining members, the USA and UK came in.

I agree it is very much like that

It wasn't long ago we saw the Trumpsters screaming that the Dems wanted "a one party state".

Now, the GQP has that, plus a compliant Supreme Court and a President with immunity.

Suddenly we're not hearing that complaint any more.

Weird, huh?

:dunno:
Dems already have that in Cali and NY.
