Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a clear indication Wednesday that he will not compromise on his demands for Ukraine to cede territory despite US President Donald Trump’s intensifying push for peace.

In a combative speech delivered as US and European leaders engage in frantic diplomatic efforts to secure a peace agreement, Putin lashed out at Ukraine’s European allies and said Russia would take territory by force if necessary.

It’s just a response to Zelensky making unreasonable demands. Russia isn’t going to give up the land they won in war.

Of course warmongers will just claim this is President Trump giving in to Putin. The reality is Ukraine lost and is barely being propped up by the US.

Any person has a pressurre for peace. At least peace is much less expensive and money is a good pressure for anyone. The problem, that your decision-makers failed to recognise is that right now Russia doesn't act in the logic of "oversea raid", comparing losses and profits, and if losses are larger than profis, it's time to damage control and taking leave. Right now Russians are acting in the logic of "elimination of threat". "We are under attack", and more dangerous and devastating is enemies attack - then more Russians are interested in the elimination of the threat. Because if they don't eliminate this threat - this threat will eliminate them.

Americans would fight even more fierce if they face the threat of "decolonisation of North America" (meaning elimination of all Americans of European, Asian or African heritage).

It won't change a thing. Russians are not a zombie horde lead by a King of Night or something. They are smart and basically free people. You kill Putin - Medvedev or Mishustion or anybody else will continue his work.
There is no "party of peace" in Russia, because you can't be a Russian politician and support genocide of Russians. Oversimplificating, there are party of "coercers" who believe that by combination of diplomatic, economic and military efforts Russia can coerce West in mutually acceptable peace, and there is a party of "eliminators", who believe that its all wasting time and resources and Russia should just eliminate them all. Of course, the difference between them is arbitrary and fuzzy, because "coercers" believe that the threat of total annihilation is essential to keep control of escalation and "eliminators" are ready to accept unconditional surrender of the defeated enemy.
