However, reducing Moscow to rubble may not be necessary. Destroy all the pipelines from their arctic oil wells, and they freeze up, requiring a long time to repair. No fuel for the home front or military, and winters are cold in Russia.

Most of Russia is West of the Urals. That is a much smaller area than the US, the EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The nukes get used, there will be no Russia. And Russia knows it.
