In 1918 President Wilson sent thousands of American soldiers to Russia to fight with the Russian "White" army against the Bolshevik "Red" communist army for almost 2 years.
There was deep seated hatred between America and communist Russia all during the 1920's and 30's until late 1941 when Hitler declared war on America and we became allies to fight against Germany

It seems obvious that Putin had been assembling the pieces of a master plan for years to elevate Russia to a global leadership position, and so far it's been working flawlessly.

Putin has been attacking the Ukraine for nearly 20 years. He's a good dictator, he knows how to force people to do what he wants. He's got fertile ground. Russia with democracy went badly with Yeltsin, so when he broke those rules, the Russians weren't that bothered because they didn't have democratic traditions.

It helps that Russia is rich, has a lot of oil. You have to remember how rich Russia is, if you can take that money and stash it away and make sure the people don't get it and you can use it for your wars.

Is it working flawlessly? Hell no. He thought the war would be over within days. He thought, like the Americans in Iraq, that he'd be welcomed as a liberator.

Some of the tactics he uses are done on the cheap. He puts things out there, contradicting what is said, without providing any proof, hoping it can stick in the minds of stupid people who don't need things to be backed up with facts, sources or even logic.

The example of saying they had a satellite image of a Ukrainian fighter jet shooting a missile at the Malaysian Airlines flight shot down over the Ukraine is the perfect example. They later admitted the plane was shot down by a SURFACE to AIR missile. They (or someone) faked the photo and ran with it.

Same with the Salisbury Novichok case. Amateur at best. Didn't take a genius to figure out that two beefed up guys going on their first visit to the UK wouldn't head straight for Salisbury, use two different airports in London, two different airports in Russia.....

That people even believe a word of what he says shows just how easy it is to manipulate idiots.

The first part is true, the remainder is fantasy.

He has changed the political dynamics by isolating Russia in the international community as evidenced in the UN General Assy. He has a few abstainers, but his real supporters can be counted on one hand and are all rogue states.

He has changed the financial dynamic by cutting Russia off of the International system, plunging it into recession, causing 2 million professionals and technical workers to flee Russia, along with more than 500 multinational companies, and making Russia the only place in the world you can use a ruble in commerce.

He has changed the security dynamic by destroying Russia's conventional deterrent- against both his neighbors and NATO, by doubling Russia's border with NATO, and by guaranteeing that Ukraine will sooner or later become a NATO member.

His only remaining credible deterrent against NATO is nukes, and if he violates the nuclear taboo he loses that too.

Russia being lead by Putin is doing great.
China and India are hardly rogue countries and are doing huge business deals with Russia and paying in rubles, as are several other countries.
The ruble is the best performing currency on the global financial markets, while the Euro is tanking and the dollar is pretty weak.
Although, many western companies quit doing business with Russia.
Other foreign companies quickly filled the gap and now the Russia stores and malls have reopened for business and full of consumer items,

Dont underestimate Russias tolerance for human loss. And this was when their population was a third of what it is currently...

Conscription is just the order of the day in Russia. Always has been. It's not a sign of anything other than "more of the same". It would be akin to claiming the US was "losing" in Iraq, or Afganistan, because we were calling up Reservists. I've got 3 reservist buddies who got shipped out. And at no point were "we" losing in either theater.

So people friendly to the US are in control of Afghanistan? Good to know.
