Using marijuana may affect your ability to think and plan, study says

Science never ceases to amaze us. Don’t mistake this for stupidity. Dr. Dumais is a genius. She figured out how to get the university to pay for her and and her friends’ weed supply.

“Our study enabled us to highlight several areas of cognition impaired by cannabis use, including problems concentrating and difficulties remembering and learning, which may have considerable impact on users’ daily lives,” said coauthor Dr. Alexandre Dumais, associate clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Montreal.

“Cannabis use in youth may consequently lead to reduced educational attainment, and, in adults, to poor work performance and dangerous driving. These consequences may be worse in regular and heavy users,” Dumais said.

Well let's add to that list. Alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and processed foods. Those affect the brain as well. Nicotine, industrial pollutants, the list goes on.

And that other than sugar and processed foods, people recommend keeping away from kids.

Except none of those cause Schizophrenia.
Mental illness is a major problem these days.

I have been doing it for literally decades.
Hasn't had any of those effects on me.

I still build multi million dollar houses, with complex blueprints, having to know multiple city and state codes, can operate large machinery and repair most mechanical issues including my own vehicle, live a good life with a stellar credit rating, drive a luxury SUV that tows my multiple toys.

One thing I have noticed is the alarming amount of Nanny Statists on both sides of the aisle who wish to demonize my own personal decisions. Whether by vaccines or a failed drug war.

I remember when a hippy friend of mine dropped his glasses in the toilet when he was stoned and all he could say was "wow man". Then he left them there for an hour until he needed them. But he said weed didn't affect his thinking or his level of ambition. Yeah, right.

Anecdotal evidence does not reflect the entirety of reality. Keith Richards has smoked tobacco for decades and not contracted lung cancer. Does that mean tobacco is safe to consume? We know that there are a certain number of people that will get sick from using tobacco, and now we're finding evidence that a certain number of people will have cognitive issues from using pot. That doesn't reflect on whether legislation should prevent people from using it or not, we simply need the information so people will have a good idea what could happen to them if they choose to consume it.

I've used a THC pen before. It just made me retarded and hungry. I wasn't impressed.

The results of this study are EXACTLY the reason that I do not use the substance, don’t allow it to be used around me, and believe it needs to remain a crime to possess, distribute or use this shit.

just like alcohol.

No problem with that.
My problem is with the idiotic generalization of all marijuana users as liberal, dread wearing, tattooed, pierced losers without a work ethic.

Folks from across the political spectrum indulge, to think otherwise is delusional. Some of us don't much care for alcohol.

All Progs do not use any of those products. For their belief in the Progressive Socialist utopia.
