Well, we have to keep in mind that he has to appeal to more than just the R base.
That said, I myself am against abortion in ANY situation, even the ones Trump mentions --that even some liberals mention: rape, incest or the life of the mother
Women very very rarely die from childbirth and in any case, abortion is a brutal, dangerous procedure itself, esp the further along the mother is. Pro life laws protect BOTH mother and child.
Rape? Please... That child did not commit a crime. Why execute the child for the sins/crimes of another?
But most important is this:
Trump won and won again---even though America knew he was pro life. And I am sure I could say that about a lot of other Rs in govt office.
I think it is rather simplistic and unrealistic to blame the Rs position on abortion for election losses. That does not ring true to some of us.
