The Trump planis very real and very workable. Idisagree with the government being responsible to provide health care to "everyone." But given that we seem to have meekly accepted that idea after obamacare was foisted upon us, Trump's suggestions for how to improve the government's role are very good and should be implemented by Congress as soon as they can flesh it out.

Crepitus perhaps this would be a more productive thread if you would explain exactly what your objections to the Trump plant are.

The ACA was rolled out in 2010, 2 yrs after Pres Obama was elected. Trump claimed his healthcare plan was great, it is going into year 6 of his presidency, he was gone for 4yrs and we still haven't seen anything close to a healthcare plan, but boot lickers like you claim your massa is going to fix it.

Oh, and insurance companies do compete for each other's business in their respective states.

• 1944 (Supreme Court Ruling): The Supreme Court decided in United States v. South-Eastern Underwriters Association that insurance was commerce, subjecting it to federal regulation.
• 1945 (McCarran-Ferguson Act): Congress responded by passing this act, deferring insurance regulation to the states and keeping it largely out of federal antitrust purview.
• 1974 (ERISA): The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) preempted state regulation for self-insured employer health plans, creating a regulatory divide.

Affordable Care Act (ACA) (2010) included a provision (Section 1333) for states to create compacts for interstate sales, which hasn't been widely adopted.

McCarran act would have to be thrown out to even consider states giving up control.

Saving money is a hoot. Where is the savings and what is going to lower premiums.

No savings when you're sending money to everyone and then funding the cost sharing subsidies, the latter going to insurance companies.

The only way a premium could be lowered is if you took everyone with a pre existing condition and gave them nothing. Yes, it's been mentioned by the orange one.

All states do not offer Medicaid to the poor.

Taking brokers out of the equation may or may not be a decent idea but from 30 years of experience most people don't know how their plan works now. If you think the insurance companies are going to handle millions of customer service calls daily then you probably have bought swamp land sometime or another.
