Mamdani has a pan to "fix" housing in New York.

I am sure a socialist thinks taking over private property like that is a "winner"
I know the soviet citizens loved losing their property.
It is the ultimate threat...

If a property owner doesn't maintain his property in a city, the residents of that city would eventually want him relieved of that property...

You can't have a rat infested boarded up property in the middle of the city for years... The residents of a compact high density city have voted for Mandami to stop that...

Mandami isn't unique in calling for this. Mayors both conservative and liberal all over the world don't allow this either... If this was a MAGA mayor you would be cheering him on... This is basic common sense and individual responsibility..

Its either a sham, or he is a thief.
HOW?
They are getting paid for their property.
I'm sure it isn't an even trade either, the government will have to spend 1000's to bring these places up to the building code/compliance.

Like Trump's buildings.

They already have penalties for that. But this statist asshole is talking about taking it, and giving it to someone else.
He is a goddamn thief.
Im not MAGA, foreigner.
Thievery isnt common sense or anything to do with responsibility.

If I stole your car, and left you 500 dollars for it, would you report it stolen?
Of course you would because it was yours and you didnt decide to sell it.

NOT how the government works.

If you had a car on jack stands at the street curb, for months and they warned you several times, then towed it, you would lose that too, without getting paid.

Oh, you mean leaving it on a PUBLIC street? Yeah, thats going to happen.
Good try, statist.

Mammydani is in way over his head
Yet when Trump wanted to do this all long the Mexico border you were perfectly happy...

Mandami is just taking things from other places in the world that worked and implementing in NYC..

Can you show a city where main retail units were left vacated and derelict and this worked for the city.. A proper first world city...

I think this is after penalties...

What do you expect the city to do... They don't want to keep issuing penalties, they want the owner to change their behaviour... Very likely the Property Owner doesn't come from this neighbourhood or lives in this neighbourhood... The Property Owner could be corporation...

Here are some of the worst infractors:
  • Margaret Brunn (A&E Real Estate Holdings): Tops the list with 4,872 open HPD violations across 24 properties.
  • Donald Hastings (A&E Real Estate Holdings): Ranks second with 3,889 open violations across 36 properties.
  • Barry Singer: Ranks third with 2,885 open violations across 14 properties.
  • Joseph Cafiero: Ranks fourth with 2,871 open violations across 19 properties.
  • Peter Fine: Ranks fifth with 2,101 open violations across 7 properties. [1]

Look at Peter Fine, he has 300 violations average per property...
Why are ye trying to defend these landlords?

BTW, Trump was doing far worse when building the mexico wall..

Not only good, easy.

IT is worse than that...

Suppose I bought a house and I like the area but want my buddies to move in. I park my car in the driveway an put on jacks, then take out the engine and leave stuff litter all over my property, let vermin run loose...

Then I play music late, swear at the neighbourhood kids and claim I saw open drug dealing everywhere... Sue everyone in the neighbourhood... Make everyone's life a living hell. As they move out and sell (for much cheaper), I move out an rent to known drug dealers and a couple ex sex offenders...

You will pick up all that property in less than 10 years for peanuts and get them all evicted (or moved to you next target neighbourhood). Yep you made money.

Limited information unbiased
As it reads it shouldn't be allowed, the owners wanted to build affordable housing and Mayor wanted to be a town hall...

Hard to know what really happened with the information provided but this isn't in NYC... This is a rural issue..

Happens to farms beside towns worldwide, town is expanding and they are naturally moving towards his land...

They need housing.. They are a'stone's throw from Jersey turnpike'...

What do you expect to happen? The city is surrounding his 175 acre property?

Hey, that's Georgia (i.e. GOP) and that is a private company...

This isn't the same at what Mandami is saying

Solution: seize property and give it to 'non profit' organizations. Those housing projects have a great track record. Live in your gooberment apartment, 'shop' at the gooberment store, go get your gooberment allowance. So simple. Zohran Mamdani Just Announced Plans to Begin Seizing and Redistributing Private Property
Your link:

"Yet those achievements were made possible not because of politicians like Mamdani, but in spite of them, driven largely by private industry and capitalists.

"Today, Mamdani’s own agenda still depends on the very economic forces he blasts daily, relying on private wealth to help fund his socialist policy vision."

Where did private capitalists acquire the money to fund their vast, private fortunes; the answer hasn't changed since 1694:

"1. A private bank is granted the right to create money

2. The government borrows that money into existence

3. The government spends the money, stimulating the economy

4. The public is taxed to pay interest on the debt to the private bank

5. The bank collects interest on money it created from nothing

6. The debt is never fully repaid; it is rolled over perpetually."

Yeah, a private company to bring in AI.
The government pushing THAT as public "Good".

See if the courts agree.

This is very standard thing in cities around the world... Are ye saying all the other cities in the world are wrong too?
Yes. I do not believe it should be the right of the government to tell ANY private property owner what they must do with their property. Period.

If private property exists as a legal construct established by government-provided laws, deeds, courts, and police forces, what gives owners the right to ignore their responsibilities?
