POLL: Trump's America, 2025

It's entirely possible that Trump could win again in November. That makes me wonder what our increasing divisions (primarily race & wealth) would look like when he left office in January 2025.

But this poll isn't about predictions. This is about what you want to see (regarding those divisions) America look like in January 2025.

To expand on the poll questions:
  1. I don't care. I'd have my taxes lowered, my gun rights intact, and we'd have a very conservative Supreme Court in place to control abortion, immigration, and other issues. PLUS, there would probably be a lot more violence from the Left in response, which would help us in the 2024 elections.
  2. America would be even more divided and angry, with even more people suffering. I hope that by that time, enough people will have been marginalized, and demographics will have continued to change enough, that the American people are finally able to say "enough is enough" to this ugliness.
  3. The divisions may get so bad that we'll see a strong move towards the middle of this mess. Between the selfish, arrogant ignorance that is Trumpism, and the PC - Identity Politics - Cancel Culture bullshit that is keeping people away from the Democrats, some reasonable voices will finally find significant traction.

Please feel free to go into detail. Your vote will not be visible.

I would all depend on how the left took the loss. If they are brought to reality and see that their embrace of identity politics and hard socialism is making their party a pariah to the middle of the country, then maybe we would see them try to return to a more moderate stance.

On the other hand if the decide to double down and go even more radical, then their only recourse is to declare Trump's win illegal/illegitimate and then condone whatever violence will begin to explode across the country for 4 years as some of the more radical rioters decide to "go professional" and up the ante by bringing back actual revolutionary leftists outfits like the Weather Underground.
Thanks for the thoughtful response.

When I saw that Trump had won in 2016, the very first thing that popped into my little brain was something very similar to your point: Concern that the pushback to him would be so severe and so strong that the most radical elements of the party (The Regressive Left) would be able to take over the Democratic Party and give us two horrific options in 2020. On one hand, it's good that the party was spared Regressive Leftist candidates, but on the other, Biden is a terrible candidate and the party remains a shit show.

It seems to me that there is a real possibility that (a) the violence from the most radical elements of the Left would only increase, (b) the violence would only make Trump more of a hard-liner, and (c) our divisions could continue to increase. The country really could be teetering on literal division in 2024, and you can see by the responses here that many Trumpsters would be fine with that.

What gives me hope is that the voices of moderation and sanity may be getting louder. As far as I'm concerned, this is the one thing that can save us.

You were only spared them at the Presidential level. at the legislative and State levels, they are out in force.

And Biden is an opportunist, he will go hard left if that's how he sees a path to victory, or at least that's what his team members will tell him.

And assuming the middle path is the right path is a logical fallacy.
I don't think there is such a thing as a "middle" path. Nor do I really think that would be a very good idea.

I do think, however, that there is a third path -- the innovation of new ideas that can only come from open, honest communication and collaboration. By those who actually have the ability to communicate and collaborate and innovate.

America used to be pretty good at innovation. Back when we were great.

Your middle statement just gave me flashbacks to my last corporate team building meeting.

Also, new ideas can be bad ideas. Just look at new Coke.

Innovation requires struggle, or at least people who desire to improve themselves. It's why the left's desire to let government handle everything is self defeating because it removes the incentive to improve oneself.

But I digress.
Ironic that you would say that. I have several business clients, and I always talk with them and work with them on increasing the quality and quantity of communication, destroying "silos", and working together to innovate. That's not even my area -- I'm a financial guy -- but I know how critical this is to the health of a company. And the clients sure as hell appreciate it.

We can still do this on the business level. But we've lost the capacity on a cultural and political level. We had better get it back, and soon.

I see it differently, I see it as companies concentrating too much on the "culture" of the company and not about the product of the company. Engineering firms forget about Engineering and care more about the project management and not the project results.

Compromise on the political stage is only possible if people stop going for federal level one size fits all "solutions" to problems, both real and perceived.

and right now the Left are the ones wanting to do everything nationally, even if large parts of the country want nothing to do with it.
No, I agree with that. Leaning on a corporate "culture" can be every bit as negative as positive. A "culture" can stink things up pretty quickly over time, because it rarely remains static.

The only "culture" that I support across the board is one that values communication, collaboration, innovation. I guess I could call it a "system", but I think of it more as a rule that simply needs to be enforced by the right people. It's only a shell, an outline. And, there has to be ultimate decision-makers so that there is clear accountability and responsibility. This ain't a hippy commune.

But to me, it's an absolute requirement.

If you have to enforce communication, collaboration and innovation, then you aren't getting real versions of the three.
That depends entirely on the people involved. Those who are capable of communication, collaboration and innovation get it. It's organic for them.

I used to think that anyone could break free from their ideological cocoon and contribute. I no longer believe that. We'll have to work around them.

They have a habit of widening when you try to do so.
Well, this sure as hell wouldn't be easy, that's for sure.

I'm not even holding my breath any more. I'm just hoping now.

Hoping for what?

The solution to all this is in front of our faces. Federalism is the answer to how people who want different things can get what they want.

It’s too late. Peaceful secession is the solution.

Meanwhile the GOP will be anxious to look to the future and see that catering solely to white men is not a winning, long-term strategy.

Pure ignorance.

DBA,

that is a bit unfair...

GOP primary base is shrinking, they are loosing Women, College educated, Young... GOP has Old, Non College, Religious and Farmers, all shrinking... Conservatives are supposed to be making a play for Middle Class and Democrats Working Class traditionally... Trump went for the Blue collar workers with promises and dreams, they have not been delivered on.
Trump has used his personality to keep them together but there is leaking. Trump is just not delivering for a lot of these people.

It isn't unfair at all. I responded to a post stating that the GOP was catering only to white men. That is patently false. The media is controlling the narrative in this country and they are very left-leaning. The young and naive have always been Democrats. Women are being sold lies by the left-wing media. College educated are indoctrinated and that is very difficult to overcome. Religious folks are declining in this country, which will ultimately be our downfall.

There are already a lot of people from both "sides" who have had enough and are working desperately to make some changes.

The problem is that those two groups are (a) traditional conservatives and (b) full-on progressives, and I don't know how the hell they're going to find common ground.

On the other hand, maybe they both see how ugly things get when people refuse to communicate and collaborate: Division, bigotry, hatred, paranoia, destruction.

Anyway, here's hoping.
The media/entertainers/sports people promotes what it wants to. They take a step back and things cool down a bit. This virus and riots are to convenient during an election year. There is an organized revolutionary agenda afoot. The local politicians are either part of it or stupid.

It was actually just a question.

You're not required to respond like a normal adult if you don't want to. Others have.

Meanwhile the GOP will be anxious to look to the future and see that catering solely to white men is not a winning, long-term strategy.
Pure ignorance.
Please enlighten me then. What has the GOP done to expand their support? Note I wrote "done" not "said".

The left wants freebies and handouts instead of simply being treated as equals regardless of race or gender. The GOP absolutely supports this while the left supports just the opposite. They treat certain minorities and women as ignorant and incapable of taking advantage of the system the has made countless numbers of people of all races and genders very successful over the years. According to the left, the system is rigged against them, despite countless examples that say otherwise. A vote for the left only further divides our country based on race, because their entire existence relies on a racial divide and identity politics. If people are copacetic about their race, gender and/or sexual orientation and are not inflamed, there would be no reason to vote for Democrats.

You may be right. Our political leadership is very blood thirsty.

It's Freedom vs government rule. The worthless leftist traitors not only want government rule - they need it. They simply don't have the common sense to think and do for themselves. These braindead communists will always divide this country - no matter if Trump wins or not.
What freedoms do you think tRump is giving you?
Politicians don't give you freedom dumbass. They take it.

In your advanced case of TDS you fail to understand why the divide exists and who is responsible for it.

The divide existed long before Trump. He is far from the most responsible party. I ask myself a logical question. Who profits most from division?

To me the media is overwhelmingly the main driver of division. These rare bad cop black man shootings are a perfect case in point. These stories do nothing but divide us. They are never presented in a fair or evenhanded manner.

The media does division to make money and push a political agenda. Period.

Very true. The MSM is terribly dishonest, sews division, and the majority of it is owned by six men. It’s clear to me they have an agenda of divide and conquer the people of the USA. They are doing a great job of it.

I would quibble with you regarding cop brutality. It’s a real problem that needs addressing, but won’t. Cops killing blacks is great way for pushing the division agenda. The MSM is known to outright lie and fabricate evidence, when a white cop kills a black man. Yet, they continue to get away with this without consequence.

#2 regardless who wins in November. It will be more divided if the blob holds onto the office than if Joe wins.

Interesting that you accuse me of ignorance and then basically say that the GOP has failed to recruit the young and naive, women, and the College educated.

So you're saying the Left has done things for the poor and the non-white to try and help them, even if they are just "freebies and handouts", while the GOP has offered only moral support and ideological purity? You say the Left treats certain minorities and women as ignorant and incapable. I think that displays a fundamental racism in your belief that these people don't know what is in their own best interest and which side has their backs.

Racism denied Auburn’s first Black student a master’s degree. Do you expect him to be 'copacetic' about what he was denied and what it cost him?

  1. I don't care. I'd have my taxes lowered, my gun rights intact, and we'd have a very conservative Supreme Court in place to control abortion, immigration, and other issues proper, constitutionalist Supreme Court in place to control government and protect people from its abuses. PLUS, there would probably be a lot more less violence from the Left in response, which would help us because of the landslide ass beating they will take in November and they will learn their lesson and not overplay their hand in the 2024 elections.
There.

Unless all liberal mayors are replaced, CNN and a million other news orgs like them go out of business, I don't see there being all that much difference in 2025. Who knows, maybe second term Trump will actually do something to enforce law and order instead of just tweet the phrase. Regardless I don't think the left's vote-Biden protection racket will fix anything. CNN will tone it down a bit I'm sure but the first time a black criminal gets shot by police the riots will begin anew.

Opportunity zones, lower taxes and regulations, justice reform, standing up for manufacturing, just to name a few.

It's Freedom vs government rule. The worthless leftist traitors not only want government rule - they need it. They simply don't have the common sense to think and do for themselves. These braindead communists will always divide this country - no matter if Trump wins or not.
What freedoms do you think tRump is giving you?
Private healthcare options, the right to protect yourselves and your families, religious expression, free speech, the American Dream where any person can make themselves into whatever they want instead of just a government dependent. After listing all that, it is obvious that is the freedom offered in the traditional view of America and American Life, which the left abhors and wishes to replace by heavy handed government dominance. Trump is offering people a chance to live their own lives, and not be subjects of power hungry people like Pelosi and Schiff.

Metaphorically speaking, I am saying the left continues to support their adult children living in their basement. The GOP has said to get out of the basement and do it on your own. You are capable and there are no excuses. Just like the 35 year old living in his parent's basement, they will continue to support whoever gives the the freebees because they think that is in their best interest. It is a hard pill to swallow that sometimes you have to take two steps backwards before taking a few forward. Mind you, I am not talking only about woman and minorities nor is it all women and minorities. There are some of each that don't vote for Democrats. They can think for themselves and don't fall for the liberal media and educational mind-meld they have likely been bombarded with for decades. I am talking about a large portion of our society, including white males, who vote for the party that gives them what they want, without having to work for it. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party seems to be made up of either the kids in the basement or the enabler parent's who won't push them out of the nest.

As to your link, nobody denies that racism was predominate years ago in America. I might add it was the Democratic Party. Regardless, the fact it existed then doesn't mean this man's great grandchild can't succeed today. That is utterly laughable as their are numerous programs that actually give minorities a leg up vs being discriminated against.
