Legalizing heroin is a bad idea. That being said, the "war" on drugs is a farce. Truth is the first casualty of any war. Because we will not deal with the matter openly and in truth, it has been doomed to failure from the beginning. Undercover/secret police only hide the corruption that allows it to continue and has tainted our whole society.

Why don't we forcibly make these people get the treatment they need and keep them there for as along as it takes to fix their problem? We stupidly let these people run around freely and when they do get "treatment" it is just a 30 day plan followed up by requiring them to be honest and go to weekly meetings, of which that plan almost never works.
