Are we about to see a return of music of conscience ?

The 60s were supposed to be about politicl music but the much maligned 80s should also be considered.

This is the greatest political song of all time, and you can dance to it as well.

I think you can find musicians in all eras that have a conscience. This is more my style...... from 2009.

Power at first to the needs of each others' days
Simple to lose in the void sounds of anarchy's calling ways
All unaccounted for in the craziness of power
The craziness...

Tidy. Not heard of him before. Local hero ?

He is a bit of an obscure fellow from the American heartland. Iowa I believe, but he makes his way around the states every so often.

Here is another that I like.....you may have heard of them. :D
But this,to your point, takes us back to the '80s again.

Love the Clash. Never saw them live but did see Big Audio Dynamite. This is one that Joe wrote after watching the Notting Hill riots. Sandanista was a dangerous name for an album back then.
