Why do people do the things that people do? Man leaves safety of his outpost, to take pictures of bears. Misses the fact that there was a second bear nearby. Pays for it with his life.

Mom blames the company for not having fencing.
Why do people always blame someone else for their own ineptness? Put the blame where it belongs, on the guy taking pictures, by himself, without a gun.

Yeah, polar bears live on the ice. They see people as a bag of meat, nothing more. Very dangerous, and very sad for this man

Yeah it's a bit sad but when you play with fire you should expect to get burned. These bears aren't pets, they are dangerous animals wandering around in an area without much food. And they are at the top of the food chain. You don't walk around the Arctic, without a gun. Period.

Maybe off topic, but I never saw a major sports team with the name Polar Bears. You have bears, so why not Polar Bears? Sort of like Bobcats. This is evidence that bears are quite ferocious, so I think the name is apt.

How about leaving places alone for the animals. Humans arent meant to dominate every place. Unfortunately, if you enter the bears place, this may happen. Cant enter without a gun then dont enter, its not your place to be.

Title should have been.....Darwin Wins Again.

There was a reason many Siamese Mausers were converted to .45-70 when the Alaska Pipeline was being built.

Bear Country is really a thing and you should never venture out alone without being armed....Better yet arm yourself and bring along someone else armed for overwatch.

Brown and Polar Bears are the Apex Predators of the North and even the more shy Black Bears (due to their larger size up there) can ruin your day if they take a mind to.

Do they still give out Darwin Awards? He wins it.

Anyone with any brains, knows you don’t expose yourself as he did in polar bear country.

LOL....I see plenty of 400#+ Black Bears in my back yard all the time....And I live in town!

There was one brute back a couple of years ago that topped 600#....That big boy was no joke but he never bothered anything I was aware of.

We did not have a "bear problem" till the 5K+ acre fed Cattle Research facility that backs up to my subdivision changed hands and Smithsonian (National Zoo) took the property over and allowed much of their property to grow over....It's like a bear holding pen now.

They own pretty much all of the screen shot....I live top center left.

One has a better chance of winning the powerball than being attacked by a bear.

Perhaps humans should not be allowed in some places. Fine them heavily for going into these places.

Its called survival of the fittest

This guy was stupid

And maybe a bit brainwashed into believing that Polar Bears are harmless victims of mankind

It’s because they’re white.
