Why did the employee have a gun? Since when do people not have the right to defend themselves? Maybe a gun shot to the head is over the line, but if the business was not being robbed, there wouldn't have been a reason to pull that gun out in the first place.

I'm guessing ,"in order to defend himself"... Looks like that was the right move.
