Pittsburgh the city of champions!

Barry Bonds started out with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Lemieux and Crosby carried the Penguins to Stanley Cup trophies (two different generations!).
I'm not a huge Steelers fan, but Bradshaw and Roethlisberger did the same in the NFL (two different generations!).

These days, all you hear about is Tom Brady (NFL) and LeBron James (NBA), but now the Penguins are up 1-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals, and the Warriors look indomitable behind Curry and Durant...sooo...maybe the Crosby-Penguins will get some much-deserved spotlight!

Incidentally, who do you think is a bigger 'sports legend' --- Barry Bonds or LeBron James?

Bobs carries a lot of baggage. He was not popular with Pittsburgh or national sports press. I don't know, nor do I care how he is regarded among the San Francisco press.

The book is still being written on Lebron. Cleveland loves him even after his 'take my talents' to Miami let down. But he's back. The prodigal son from Akron.

I do agree that Sidney Crosby should get more national respect. I've watched him put this team in his back this season.

Series 2-0. Far from over though. I expect Nashville to win the next one, these people are all pros and are all in the finals for a reason.

Penguins Parade?

The Penguins are one game away from Sidney Crosby's 3rd Stanley Cup trophy!

While Crosby seeks his 'Stanley-hat-trick,' we watch as LeBron tries to stay in the 'media mix,' but it looks like the Durant-muscled Warriors show...

Will Crosby bring national spotlight back to the NHL and draw it away from the celebrity-themed NBA Finals?

Crosby really is under-appreciated, so if he hoists his 3rd Stanley Cup and brings it home for our beloved city of Pittsburgh (the city of champs!), then I'll be talking more about Sidney than LeBron...

====

CROSBY: The NBA Finals are centered around Durant and Curry...no surprise.
LEBRON: Let's see if your Penguins can take the Stanley Cup in 6 games only!
CROSBY: We can do it, LeBron, and bring some confetti to Pittsburgh...
LEBRON: The NHL is not as popular as the NBA!
CROSBY: Maybe that's true (since the NBA is more multicultural), but my possible Stanley-hat-trick will raise eyebrows...
LEBRON: I think the Nashville Predators just might have something up their sleeve!
CROSBY: You should worry about trying to save some face and wrestle out at least one win in the NBA Finals.
LEBRON: It's a challenge. Durant has been ominous!
CROSBY: The Warriors will be super-strong again next year...
LEBRON: You never know. Maybe the LA Clippers will rise to the challenge!
CROSBY: Well, my 3rd Stanley Cup will bring attention to the Steelers (NFL) and away from the Brady-Patriots 'mountain.'
LEBRON: Good luck to Pittsburgh!
CROSBY: Same to you, LeBron...
LEBRON: There's nothing like televised sports...

Crosby is under-appreciated? Based on what, exactly? He's been seen as one of the league's best pretty much since he entered the NHL.

well looks like the Pirates are going to be back to their losing ways again this year with their first losing season since Hurdle took over.sucks,I was thinking they might do what the cubs did eventually as well.:(

Crosby is under appreciated, he is about the only hockey name I know. Win or lose, the NHL will never get the buzz that the NBA gets.

That is a sad commentary on sports fans in America. :P

Why? I don't have time for every sport, I limit what I follow and when. There are years I don't follow the NBA, years I don't follow NASCAR, the NCAA football I follow in November. Some years I don't follow NCAA basketball, I haven't really followed hockey since Gretzky retired, who was the greatest hockey player of all time. I haven't followed the Olympics in decades. I haven't followed soccer since the 70's and it was the NASL only. I couldn't tell you who the best golfer is. Other than Serina Williams, I know nothing of tennis players today.

I am the same with entertainment and movies, just don't have the time or the interest.

So be it sad or not, it is just your opinion and I don't have the time or the interest to follow everything. Sports aren't a priority in my life.

Do you watch and know every player and team in sports?

Wow, you sure read a lot into that!

The. What makes it a sad commentary on sports or were you just trolling?

It's a thread on Pittsburgh, the Flame Zone is over there --->.

It will be no cake walk for the Penguins, the Predators can score. While I'd like to see Pitt finish the cup tomorrow I think it will likely go to game 7.

This has been kind of an odd series. The games aren't being won, they are being dominated, at least on the scoreboard. Game 1 is the only one that might be considered to have been close scoring.

Exciting finish, 0-0 until last 2 minutes of the game.
