Did you see the equipment they used then? I saw it Joe. I mean literally. It seems you have made up your mind to blame the pilot of the airliner. Sure you say the ATC guys in the tower but they were not piloting either airplane. I was let into the ATC due to being a pilot. FAA allowed Pilots in their facilities back then. I think there was probably fault on all sides, but I'm willing to wait for the report to come out. You seem to be locked onto blaming this Army pilot because Mango Mussolini said so. (Even though he's largely backed off the claim at this point.)

PATCO is the accurate name. Was the equipment up to date when Reagan fired them? Frankly it sure seemed up to date when I was there. Each Controller had a very large video display they watched. Each airplane being directed was shown including flight data. They explained to me how easy it was to track all controlled airplanes.
This Female simply was also being controlled until she did the fateful thing. She got off of them and went visual meaning only she was commanding her helicopter but the airliner was at all times on control.

Or. The instruments were incorrect and told her she was 78 feet lower than she actually was, and the ATC didn't warn her in time they just sent and airliner barrelling into her path because the gumby at the ATC was handling two screens.

If the ATC told them the weren't going to collide, or didn't warn them until it was too late, um, then, yeah, it's on the ATC.

Helicopter requested she be fully in command of her helicopter. ATC told her fine. She hit the airplane with her totally responsible.
