I’ve never understood the desire to create a home gym. It’s prohibitively expensive if you want to lift heavy at all and the social aspects are one of the best parts of going to the gym
Because I don't always feel like driving to the gym for one thing, and I can go to my garage and work out whenever I want to. I don't have to wait for a machine to open up, I don't have to find a parking spot, and if my car is clean and it is sleet or snow or rain I can leave it in the garage and still get my workout. It's nice to have a backup plan, and it is best to utilize the gym and your home workout so you know you'll never miss one.
The only drawback is I can't go heavy there, but I have isolation exercises with dumbells that work great, as well as my pull-up bar, which is one of the best exercises anyone can do.
