Rear Adm. Peter Vasely, the top U.S. commander in Kabul during the evacuation, said that the withdrawal was made more chaotic by people like First Lady Jill Biden, Pope Francis, the White House and Congress calling in for special favors to help get out certain people.
Vasely said the Pentagon was being pulled in all different directions from Biden officials, lawmakers, members of the media and even the Vatican as it carried out the largest evacuation since Vietnam ahead of the Taliban takeover.

Don't be surprised if Gen. Mark Milley, who held himself completely blameless on the entire Afghanistan Withdrawal fiasco (I Was Only Following Joe Bidens Orders) now goes after Navy Rear Admiral Perter Vasely with a vengeance for these comments. With emphasis on vengeance. If there is one thing that Gen. Milley seems to dislike particularly, its the truth.
The clusterfuck of Afghanistan should have been expected when no one in the White House and the State Department has any military experience. They are all politicians. They have no concept of how meddling creates chaos in the military planning process.
The root cause of the Afghanistan screwup is that the Biden and his advisors didn't honor previous promises made to the Taliban. Such as, we will bomb you into oblivion if you mess with us on the way out. But no, Biden did absolutely nothing when Taliban forces tested the American response after they took village after village and province after province until they were right on the doorstep of Kabul and only then was there a rushed and chaotic evacuation. The Taliban should have been stomped the moment they crossed any line.
The Biden Admin pulled out the troops who would have been doing the stomping and that told the Taliban they were free to start capturing territory. When nothing happened, the Taliban kept capturing more and more territory.

Thanks to a new report from a Navy Admiral, it has now been exposed that Jill Biden also disrupted the effort by straining resources.

This accusation comes as part of a recently declassified 2,000-page report obtained by The Washington Post after submitting a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

An interview with Rear Adm. Peter Vasely, special assistant to the Director of the Navy Staff, from September of last year explained the issues Jill Biden and other “high-profile” contacts were causing through a barrage of phone calls, text messages and emails.

He's no prize, but somebody started this thread quoting about interference from people not in the chain of command and not the Commander In Chief. There are all sorts of distractions and you can get all kinds of requests, but if your personnel, time, and assets are committed to your mission and these outside requests negatively impact your mission to handle from your actual chain of command, you stonewall and ignore, to take the hit later, but preserve the mission you are charged with.
Turns out, handling these requests was not the main problem, but mostly the biggest problem was the stall from above to order the closure and withdrawal of State Department operations in Kabul in advance of the pullout. That is Joe and Blinken. Since Blinken works for Joe, that one is on Joe. Interesting to know, State department people on the ground there, knew the score and were trying get assistance to move out at least parts of their operations and personnel to buildings across from the airport before they had orders or authorization from State Department, stateside. Whoever it was, was thinking on their feet, and calling the correct shots on their own. This could have been an even bigger clusterf#ck than it was. Mind you after 20 plus years, I can appreciate a good clusterf#ck as well as the next man, maybe better and love reading the after action reports being brought together to incorporate or never be seen again in the final Commander's after action.
