The article cited Bishop Garrison, the senior advisor to the secretary of defense for human capital and diversity, equity and inclusion, who spoke to the Center for a New American Security regarding these issues.

Yes, we should be inclusive with terrorists and others trying to kill us. We can win all wars through love and kindness and we can coexist with radical Muslims. We have to start with our own ranks first but then we can spread the cheer to our enemies as quickly as possible.

Blacks have always been good soldiers and sailors. Prior to Wilson, we had an integrated military. In my time in the service I never met a black soldier that was less than any white soldier. They served, bled and sweated just like anyone else.

That being said, military decisions can’t be made on any other basis that the most practical way to win the current conflict. The only job of the military is to kill people and break things. Doing anything that weakens that ability is acting for defeat and a betrayal of those who will die.
