I think they can. If Trump or the next GOP abandon America First it could provide and opening for the Dems, many of who needed to retire long ago. The solution to solving Americas political issies is to have term limits. If Trump achieved that it would probably surpass any other domestic policies in the long run. Keeping the same people in power for decades is akin to the system China operates, it leads to assured decline and corruption. Innovation will eventually be stunted and/or consolidated, thus weakening start ups and progress.
