Screw just making college free to students. Actually PAY them to go to college. And the better their grades are, the more they get paid. I have heard Bill Gates tell a congressional committe that he wanted to see unlimited immigration of skilled labor from abroad. Well if you not only made college free, but actually paid students to do well, that traitorous slime bucket Bill Gates would have more skilled labor than he could handle.

Not only that, as most people who have read my threads know, I myself dropped out of highschool. Because it was pointless toward some pretend future as a slave. But instead of just having to endure being dirt poor, somebody actually paid me to do well in highschool, instead of being expected to endure stooge training for "the man," I would have actually done well in highschool.

If that is Gates opinion, let him put his money where his mouth is.

ALL of it

Oh he said it all right. I saw him say so to the congressional committee on TV. But he didn't become a multibillioniare for nothing. As it is right now, there are more than enough qualified Americans to do whatever he needs them to do. But why pay an American a higher salary when you can import a foreigner to do the work for a cheaper price. It's capitalism (slavery) in action.

What a surprise that the idiot who flunked out of high school doesn't know what "slavery" means.

My problem with free college is we would just end up with more social justice warriors with useless degrees.

Strangely I understand where Gates is coming from. I heard a quote from the head of Apple (can't remember his name), when asked why he manufactures in China. He said something to the effect that if you took all the Americans with the skills required to operate his manufacturing operations you could fit them all in one NFL stadium. If you took all the Chinese with those skills we wouldn't have enough stadiums to hold them. There are so many kids coming out of college with useless degrees that it's scary.

As I've stated in another thread, the policy decision to make state colleges "free" MUST be coupled with a demand that the students who get this "free" education be selected competitively, based on quantitative criteria. It makes perfect sense for the State to fund the higher education of the 20% or so who are most qualified to be leaders in the future, but it makes no sense for the taxpayers to fund a pointless extension of irresponsible adolescence.

Americans who favor "free" college like to point to Germany, but in Germany it is only the best students who are accepted into their universities and top tech schools.

Of course, this is a pointless pipe dream here. If we awarded college scholarships on merit, DIVERSITY would be out the window, and our colleges value DIVERSITY over everything else, especially education.

Not if they were colleges for White students only. And had required social classes taught by mentally superior National Socialists. Next, there are probably more scientists who could do DNA splicing in the U.S. than you could fit into a stadium. Not only that, you could probably take a retard or somebody with a below agerage IQ, teach them how to do a specific task and do it right. Also, I wouldn't let the CEO of Apple blow smoke up your ass. The real reason that he sends jobs to China is the same reason as so much other U.S. jobs went over there. It is simply cheaper to make things there.

Another thing is that if the person who runs Apple needed mathematicans, he probably wouldn't be satisfied with anybody at a lesser math skill level than Steven Hawkings. As to how many people come out of college with "useless" degrees, I don't know. I was talking to some moron around here who said that he had three. In what, I don't know. But if you actually paid students to go to college, I would bet that they would be willing to go into any field of study that you wanted them to.

As for China, I was watching some program about it once. They said that China was awash with unemployed engineers. But that's their problem. It shouldn't become our problem. Such as by letting them emigrate here and undercut what our engineers would expect for a salary. And not only that, but sending technical information back to their true homeland. They already, most likely, stole the neutron bomb from us.

Or maybe it is just that some students like school. Or maybe some people just like the crack of that whip. I have seen pictures of people who actually like having somebody shit into their mouths.

Another thing is that I heard on some sort of science show that they have identified over a hundred different forms of intelligence. I would have to imagine there are an equal number of ways in which somebody can be naturally stupid. None of that is something that can be straightened out by limiting higher education to just the most qualified. Though maybe a eugenics breeding program could.

You also bring up diversity. From what I hear, if colleges limited their students to just those who were most qualified, most of the students in school would be Chinese or Japanese. But if I were some slope, I might be more interested in being more driven toward education too. They certainly wouldn't expect to get by on their looks.

I think the Apple CEOs point is valid. For instance by most estimates there will be a million computer coding jobs that go unfilled in this country by 2020. Just estimates but it speaks to a dearth of STEM graduates. To me part of the problem is our educational system seems more concerned with social issues than with meeting the needs of an ever more technilogical world.

Screw computer codes. For me, Windows XP worked just fine. In fact, I still use it. Writing ever more sophisticated computer codes is like a dog chasing its tail. The only technology our planet needs is the technology to live more sustainably with it. Which isn't likely to come from anybody writing computer codes.

Well the rest of the world disagrees. Computer coding isn't merely for a pc. I have a nephew who just completed a stint writing code for a program that identifies certain cancer cells. He's starting a new job writing code that aids in creating artificial limbs.
It's a new world.

The government pays police, soldiers and many bureaucrats who do things that are for the greater good of society. So why not pay students to go to college.

Quite true. So if the government is going to waste money on useless pencil pushers, why not have them pay for something positive to society in general. Such as wages to students to work for a useful degree.

You didn't just fail at high school, you failed at life, idiot.

It's funny that some ignorant, cowardly, racist, drop-out loser thinks he knows what college degrees are "useless" or not.

Many middle aged people say that school and college was not only free in their time, but yes they did get paid for going to college or technical school. This is a fact. Even in Africa, this was the case. A fact amongst many, that the government and the lenders don't want you to know.

I have heard of at least one higher education school that was free. But generally speaking, as far as I know, a higher education in this country was never free. Let alone actually paying students to go. Also, back in the days when I went to school, they did have a trade school you could attend for free along with highschool called the Bay-Aranac Skill Center. Which taught trades such as welding. I myself took that course. But that was something different from college. Neither was I paid to attend.
