I think a lot of it is the tribal thing, the sense of belonging to something and creating a world in which "everyone" agrees with you. But it requires myopia, shutting out/ignoring anything that challenges your place in that tribe. But as the world gets more and more complicated, the temptation to huddle inside a rabbit hole becomes stronger.

It's not difficult to see the attraction, but it's intellectually lazy and obviously destructive.

Our Constitution was written by people from all kinds of backgrounds, conditions, experiences, fears, perceptions and priorities. Yet they managed to hammer out the greatest document ever written (in my opinion). The tribes work in exactly the opposite direction. We have lost the ability to collaborate. Trump should release the Epstein files. All of them.
He should stop spending and raising the debt ceiling.
He should stop getting us involved in wars and sending Ukraine weapons.
He should stop reauthorizing FISA 702 (warrantless spying on Americans)
