Paramount Agrees to pay Trump $16 million in CBS 60 Minutes lawsuit

No. It’s not defamation and has nothing to do with defamation. Trump was not defamed.

If anything, Trump defamed CBS when he lied about them.

Your deflections are bullshit.

Who respects you? You pretend to support the first amendment but here you are making up one bullshit excuse to support Trump’s attack on the first amendment.

Because you have to agree with Trump. You’re his cuck. Whatever he wants, you give him.

All that the lawsuit has done is make CBS release the unedited transcripts of presidential candidate interviews.

How is that restricting speech?

Why? We were not harmed in any way.

We said the same thing about the expired accounting misdemeanors that you went after Trump for. Didn't seem to matter then. Bank even said they weren't harmed at all and would love to do business with Trump in the future. You didn't care, you wanted Trumps ass on a platter.

So it doesn't matter now.

Compelling speech no different than restricting speech. Both are against the first amendment.

Didn’t you know that?

Read the Miami Herald v Tornillo decision.

I don’t care that you don’t respect me. I’m confident enough to know that I’m smarter and better at this than you.

LOL

you are a brain dead troll turd, who's ignored by half the board.

My guess is that they got scared of retribution after Trump won the election.
Ms. Word Salad did her interview with CBS a month before the election and it was aired immediately. The controversy also began immediately.

Why did CBS wait 4 months to release the transcript?
Do you admit Trump lied about it?
Lied about what?

CBS had no obligation to release the transcripts and defended their decisions by saying that editing is pretty standard practice. Which it is.

They only released the transcript after Trump took office and was able to use government to punish them for engaging in constitutionally protected activity that he doesn’t like.

In my opinion, it was illegal intimidation and coercion.

Trump said they inserted an answer to a totally different question. That was a lie. They just edited down the length of her answer in response to a question. The link I provided you already showed this lie.

And yet I’m the one educating you about relevant precedent.

Notice how your argument shifted numerous times and now you’ve given up.

Fox News aired a town hall with Trump before the election where they failed to disclose they stacked the audience with Republicans and Trump supporters, even going so far as to edit out the audience members saying they were Trump supporters. Was that illegal?

LOL, "educating"

Wow, people thought people attending a fox news town hall would be raging leftists?

Maybe if raging leftists didn't have a history of disrupting town halls they would be invited.

Doesn’t Fox News have to come clean about loading up the town hall with Trump supporters?

What should have happened was Trump give them a choice - pay $16,000,000 or make a public apology for abusing public trust - with those words. And a promise to never repeat it again. And if they - ever - try and back peddle that apology - Trump gets the $16M

That - is what should have happened. We were damaged more than Trump.

did they claim the audience was a certain balance?

60 minutes claimed it didn't edit the interview except for time and clarity. They clearly lied once you see the full transcript.

They will never apologize. The best we got is their promise to release unedited videos of the interviews after the interview is over.

Fox News edited out a questioner saying they were voting for Trump. They were clearly trying to hide the fact that they loaded the audience with supporters.

Why don’t they have to come clean?

Sue Fox news.

CBS had no obligation to release the transcripts
LOL. We aren't talking about obligations here. We are talking about the nightmare public relations mess they caused themselves that resulted in them being sued. Which they ultimately settled rather than face the mess they had made of their network.

It was obvious election interference and they elected to cut their losses and run.

They only released the transcript after Trump took office and was able to use government to punish them for engaging in constitutionally protected activity that he doesn’t like.
The constitution does not protect acts of election interference.

You need to look into the Skydance deal. That's crucial in their decision to settle.

And had they released the transcript in a timely manner, as any trustworthy news org would do, they could have avoided this entire mess.

CBS is not trustworthy and should be shunned for obvious attempts at election interference.

But your word salad woman got clobbered and it was all for naught.

I'm not sure a judge did.

"Paramount settles Trump’s ‘60 Minutes’ lawsuit with $16 million payout and no apology"

They settled. In other words, they paid the $16 million instead of having Trump on their back about the merger.

"CBS News parent Paramount Global has agreed to pay $16 million to resolve an extraordinary lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over a “60 Minutes” news report last fall."

I'm not sure a judge did.

A judge didn't dismiss it.

You can offer any opinion you want about what they should do and whether they’re trustworthy.

The topic is a lawsuit and you keep brining up some concept of election interference which is a legal issue and does result in compelling behavior.

Yes, the Skydance deal is crucial because the Trump administration seems to be illegally holding up the deal because Trump doesn’t like CBS.
