The fact he won't be giving free passage, because they really can't afford it. Canal fees are the country's main source of income.

Legal source of income, maybe. Have you considered the Panamanian has more reason to lie? If he gave Trump concessions, every world leader will be wanting special rates as well. I don't know nor do I really care, but I can see reason for both sides to say what they're saying, whether it is true or not.

Kind of meaningless, as our aircraft carriers are too big to pass through the canal.

Also doesn't solve the underlying problem that the Canal is dependent on fresh water sources that are drying up due to Climate Change.

What we need to do is invest in a sea-level canal that doesn't rely on lock system dependent on water supply.

Getting Panama to end their Belt and Road Agreement with China just means China will take a second look at building that sea-level canal in Nicaragua.
