Panama Drops fees for US military Transportation

Just realized my typo. It should have been: "It would not include civilian cargo ships."

WW

Well now they're saying supposedly the entire thing is a lie so let's see what happens.
It occurs to me that day flood of misinformation fluff posts will probably appear on x in an effort to dilute the real news.

Dang me . Mighty funny .

As if anybody ever mentioned that possibility .

Anyhow the need for Aircraft Carriers from now on is zero .
The biggest sitting ducks imaginable in a world of Hyper Sonic missiles and Direct Energy weapons .

They estimate that Russia could down the whole US fleet in 20 minutes though usually half of the total fleet ( 5 or 6) are in dry dock at any one point in time these days .

Dang me . What a total waste of funds .

The Chinese missile is even worse....

It's huge.....travels at something like mach 7, goes 60 miles straight up and comes down nearly perpendicular to the target at enormous speed and deadly accuracy. Extremely difficult to intercept.....just before impact it releases side wings that quadruple the impact area. It will hit so hard that even minus the explosives charge it would break the carrier into two pieces.

Yeah....I'm not big on being a carrier personell...

Not a good place to be.these days.

We shouldn't have to pay any fees and other countries should have to pay us tribute

Double for Western Europeans until they hand over Greenland

If carriers were obsolete, countries wouldn't still be investing in them - China, the UK, France, etc.

Believe it or not, but our military has more sea vessels then just aircraft carriers.

Yes, they do. But it's not like the destroyers are going to go through and just sit there for six weeks waiting for the carriers to round the horn.

Well....if they do I don't see that as a bad thing.
The US could pay to use it while they do the same to the Panama canal. Let's face it if the Panama canal is going to continue forward it needs to become a sea level canal also.

I suspect once a Sea-level canal is built, the Panama Canal will see less usage.

As it stands now, it's not just carriers that can't go through it, it's a lot of the larger transports.

Well then seems like there's a need for one.
Maybe the two great powers can cooperate and speed things up..

In any case even if an aircraft carrier could use the canal It most certainly would die right there in the canal because besides being a great big fat floating target out in the open ocean....its 10 times more of a target stuck in a canal lock.

Or the Chinese can build it and we can use it.

Frankly, if I wanted to get a big project done, I'd go to the Chinese.

They build highways.

We have commissions that take years to decide what to rename a highway.

That would assume when you're at war with China you got close enough to its coast. China's defense strategy has been to keep other militaries away from its coastline. Being way out at sea, the missile probably wouldn't do very much.

Kind of meaningless, as our aircraft carriers are too big to pass through the canal.

Also doesn't solve the underlying problem that the Canal is dependent on fresh water sources that are drying up due to Climate Change.

What we need to do is invest in a sea-level canal that doesn't rely on lock system dependent on water supply.

Getting Panama to end their Belt and Road Agreement with China just means China will take a second look at building that sea-level canal in Nicaragua.
We will stop them. Monroe Doctrine. We should build it. Then we can bypass the Prog Socialist West Coast cities who get a good chunk of their revenue from Asian imports. Our southern ports will become rich and expand creating massive wealth.

Now this is what you call the art of the deal!

If you wanted to build something that looked nice on the outside that would fail in a few years.

Ok.... So what I read from the article is this:

"We haven't made the adjustment yet."

So all the bluster about it being a lie It's just front talk for a decision that is most certainly going to be made.

There's no way on earth they are going to sit down at the Panama canal authority and decide any other way.

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino on Thursday rejected U.S. claims that American warships and boats can transit the Panama Canal without paying a standard fee.

In a weekly news conference, Mulino disputed a statement from the State Department on free transit after Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Panama earlier this week.

“I want to make it very clear to the country my absolute rejection of the statement from the State Department,” he said. “It is based on a falsehood.”

As is most everything ever released from a Trump administration.

Panama’s president: No deal to allow US warships to use canal for free

Just a recogition.

A Command Economy is more efficient than a free market one.

A Technocracy is more efficient than a Democracy.
When I think of command economy the first thing that comes to mind is rent control.... It usually doesn't work.

Technocracy is an interesting term though....
Are you saying that it is eliminates choices?

Jo
