What is it with all the "proof" demands alla the sudden? You're sitting in front of a PC, right?
The State Department sent letters to some U.S. allies two weeks after the accident, and the Coast Guard initially sought to assess what supplies might be available overseas, but the administration's public posture on aid has been inconsistent. On May 5, Crowley announced that 13 international offers had been received and that decisions on what to accept would be made "in the next day or two." Two weeks later, the State Department said the government saw no reason to accept any of the offers.
The opening line of the piece is my fave:
"We'll let BP decide on what expertise they do need," State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid told reporters on May 19.
For candor and staying on WH message, this is nice, too:
"We're clearly behind the curve because BP did not have the game plan to deal with this spill," said Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-Md.), who visited Louisiana on Friday. "I don't know if the federal government has the capacity it needs at this point."

Hmm... not sure what you connies are all in a tangle over. According to this article, we're accepting international aid. Yes, it's a little late, but I thought you Connies didn't want gov't intervention in private companies.
Anyway, we don't need foreign intervention.
The solution to this problem has been clear since day 1: The government should make MANDATORY that EVERY SINGLE off shore oil rig has at least ONE relief well drilled in case of future blow outs. If this rig had a relief well ready to take over, maybe a couple thousand barrels of oils would have spilled into the gulf when a relief well would've tapped into the main well and siphoned off the oil. Until the relief wells are done and are fully functional, oil will continue to spill and there isn't a damned thing Obama, Bush, Palin or any human being sitting in the Oval Office can do about that. BP capped the pipe and is siphoning oil up to the ships.
2: The government should be hiring several companies that manufacutre skimmers to do so at a break neck pace and make a call for EVERY SINGLE available boat on the gulf coast to equip itself with skimmers. All skimmers ARE FREE OF CHARGE to the CUSTOMER. The government should be footing the bill for this immediately and then should sue BP for the exact amount of money it cost the government plus 7% interest. The government should have some kind of website setup where people can equip their boat with the skimmers and give the exact coordinates of the oil spill and what do with the skimmers once the oil is collected.
3. The people who are losing their business due to the spill should be paid TWICE the amount of money they made in 2005 which is, arguablly, the last good economic year the US faced.
4. All gulf coast states except Texas should be suing BP for lost tourism revenue.
5. The government should be hiring people to clean the beaches where the spill has invaded and be paying these people $100/hour.
6. If the clean up has adversely affected the health of ANY worker, BP should pay them $1 million immediately.
If BP is unable to pay all of its financial burdens as listed above, the government should immediately begin auctioning off BP's assets until it has the money it spent back plus 7% interest.
BP and the Federal Government have been woefully inept in this situation and Obama, who has personally accepted responsibility for this matter, should resign. Our economy has not done much of anything in the year and a half he's in office, there is still a grave conflict in the middle east that Obama has been siding with the Arabs on and he has done 1,000 times worse than Bush did with Katrina in his handling of BP. Obama has been a terrible president so far, although I cannot phathom McCain or Palin being any better.
