At the exact moment of conception the embryonic human is either male or female, due to having XX or XY chromosomes. I remember hearing about sex characteristics beyond chromosomes develping a few weeks after, and my science teacher giggling that "all of you boys were once girls." But that was a sixth grade understanding.
When I learned about
Meiosis, cells splitting into sperm in males and eggs in females, I understood that we are our sex from the moment of conception, as we are human beings at that moment. In fact each sperm cell is programed to join with an egg to create either a male or female human, so in that sense, we are male or female even before we become human.

This is the talking point of the left about transsexual rights. They try to minimize the issue and say because it is no big deal, the left should win the argument. Illogical, even if their claim of minimalism were true.
Yes, the numbers are tiny compared to the number of people who accept themselves as the sex and gender they are born with. It turns into a big problem when one of that tiny number attempts to force himself on a girls sports team, for example. Caring parents do not want their daughter to lose her privacy and safety to a male - even "just one" male - in her locker room, or bathroom. They don't want her to be injured by a far stronger male, and they do not want her losing her starting position, or a college scholarship to a male.
Question for Stann and the Dragonlady: Since the differrence between males and females amounts to very little, should we simply eliminate girls' sports and allow all genders to participate in "sports?"
