Read today that there is a forrest of saltwater red mangroves in the Yucatan that were cut off from the ocean 125,000 years ago when global cooling expanded the ice caps and the saltwater seas receded. These mangroves somehow were able to adapt to survive on fresh water...and an entire ecosystem including saltwater fish, frogs and other animals thrive 30 feet above sea level And a hundred miles from the ocean.

Makes us question what we really understand about global climate and evolution...
