One question for all Trump supporters "Are you consumers?"

The funding mechanism for the CFPB is bizarrely extra-Constitutional.

Authorized in 2010 by the Dodd-Frank Act, the CFPB possesses vast and vague powers over financial institutions. These are powers insulated from democratic accountability that the agency interprets liberally to the detriment of consumers. Dodd-Frank forbade the president to fire the CFPB director without cause and empowered the agency to fund itself. The Supreme Court excised the first layer of insulation in 2020, ruling that the president must retain authority over agency hiring and firing. The Supreme Court is now reviewing whether the CFPB’s funding mechanism, which the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals held to be unconstitutional, accords with the Appropriations Clause.

The Constitution’s exclusive grant to Congress of the “power of the purse” ensures democratically elected legislators can rein in rogue bureaucrats. However, the CFPB is immune from this check; as its self-set budget is drawn directly from the Federal Reserve – another unaccountable agency. In 2022, the Fed lacked couldn’t cover the nearly $700 million in checks the CFPB cuts every year, so they “printed” more money and gave it to the CFPB without any Congressional involvement. This is unacceptable.

You have to be the most naive person ever born.
You must be the most idiotic.

Nothing I said is naive at all. But you are wholly dependent upon the government for your life. That is just sad.

so then, who is going to protect you in Trumps presidency?
Well, you got your brown shirt types to destroy parts of their own areas and neighborhoods with national store chains which took decades to come there, now gone. Adn of course as consumers you are now talking about government supermarkets. I can only imagine the price of products in those stores or what the taxpayer will subsidize to keep the prices lower. You guys are death. If there is reason I get it. To many times it is just a stage play that gets dangerous. One of these days someone is going to destroy a huge area with a WMD from your crying wolf antics.

Who will protect you now against the banks? The rich? the powerful that want your money?
The poor never gave me a job. No one on welfare ever gave me any money. That was the rich. It was always a rich man that paid my salary. The rich never wanted my money. That was the poor, the guy on the freeway on ramp with his hand out. It was the really rich supporting vanity cancer charities that cured my friend of breast cancer. No homeless shelter ever did that. When I wanted to adopt an old, sick, helpless dog, it was a rich woman, Paris Hilton that stepped up and said "Give this senior animal a home in his last years and I will pay all care expenses." Now, I will say that none one person pulling their pants down and shitting on Wilshire Blvd ever did anything like that.

When I was finally driven out of California, it wasn't a poor person that gave me the money to move, that was the BANK. The poor are like a toxic pond, keep pouring in toxins and it gets worse. Send in some rich company to clean it up. Turn the problem over to Elon Musk. That will end it.

Please do not presume to laud the poor over the predations of the rich.

It's alleged that Nancy Pelosi and her husband made millions from insider trading and so did other politicians on both sides. Where was the CFPB? How did Biden get to be a multi millionaire when he never had a real job?
We pretty much know and accept that Nancy Pelosi and her husband made their money off of her connections and insider trading. Paul Pelosi did nothing other than take care of the tips and trades given to the Pelosis. Insider trading is NOT illegal when done by a congress member. It's an actual law. Repeal it.

Are you a consumer? Do you want to be protected against people that would take advantage of you?

I have to assume that you do, given that you support Trump because he wants to get rid of corruption, fraud and abuse.

If that is the case, why is it that Trump wants to get rid of the CFPB?

Trump administration cutting nearly 90% of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

AI Overview

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is a U.S. government agency focused on protecting consumers in the financial sector. It does this by implementing and enforcing federal consumer financial laws, supervising financial institutions, and taking action against those who engage in unfair or deceptive practices. The CFPB also works to enhance financial education, research consumer experiences, and monitor financial markets for new risks.

Here's a more detailed look at what the CFPB does:

1. Rulemaking and Enforcement:
  • The CFPB develops and enforces rules to ensure financial markets are fair, transparent, and competitive.
  • It takes enforcement actions against financial institutions for violating consumer financial laws, such as those involving deceptive advertising or predatory lending.
  • The CFPB can also take action against individuals or businesses that engage in unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices.
2. Supervision and Examination
  • The CFPB supervises banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions to ensure compliance with consumer financial laws.
  • It conducts examinations to assess compliance and identify potential risks to consumers.

    3. Consumer Protection and Education:
  • The CFPB provides educational resources to help consumers understand their financial rights and make informed decisions.
  • It accepts and investigates consumer complaints about financial products and services, says the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (.gov).
  • The CFPB also works to make financial products and services more transparent and easier for consumers to understand.

    4. Monitoring Financial Markets:
  • The CFPB monitors financial markets for new risks to consumers, such as the emergence of new financial products or services.
  • It also uses technology tools to monitor how financial institutions use social media and algorithms to target consumers.

    Examples of CFPB Actions:
  • The CFPB has issued rules limiting overdraft fees and medical debt on credit reports.
  • It has sued financial institutions for allegedly failing to protect customers from fraud on payment apps like Zelle.
  • The CFPB has also taken action against companies for misleading consumers about high-yield checking accounts.
Who benefits from such a closure?

I can certainly see why Trump and Musk want to get rid of it:

The question is "do you want your protections taken away from you"?

"Do you want to feed the pocketbooks of the rich (at your own personal cost)"?
~~~~~~
Accordingly, the agency is not being dissolved it is being restructured to operate more efficiently..
"Acting CPPB Director Russell Vought said in a notice, which was seen by Politico, that the cuts are “necessary to restructure the Bureau’s operations to better reflect the agency’s priorities and mission.”"
Who will protect you now against the banks? The rich? the powerful that want your money?
Remember when we saw that the N FUCKING SA , had been infiltrated and decided that TRANSEXUALS, were a priority and a national security... something?
And so they started recruiting them because they were "allies"?
So, this bit where you pretend that these government agencies are doing their jobs, instead of pushing the agenda,
is dumb.
EVERYTIME, I hear a lefties complain about these cuts, my response is to thus support the cuts MORE and want even harsher cuts,
AND MORE.
We are spending two trillion more than we take in, every year. You are in charge of cutting spending. What are you gonna cut?
You are not answering the post and it is something that you cannot ignore as YOU will be personally affected. Then again, all you are actually interested is in hating the Dems and kissing Trump's ass. I do hope that you have enough money to feed the rich
You allow Trump to take the CFPB out and everyone that you need for your everyday living are going to be able to abuse you in any way they want and not be accountable for it. You don't think they will do it?
You do not EVER get rid of 90% of anything and get it to work "more efficiently". 10% or 20% perhaps, but 90%?
Bottom line is that doing this, allows people like Musk, and everyone that is part of your everyday needs to take advantage of you. You do know that Trumps favors the rich, don't you?
You are totally evading reality. Trump doing this, means that the rich and powerful can now abuse you and not be accountable for it. You don't believe the rich will do that, especially if there are NO RESTRICTIONS on them?
It seems to me that the people wanting to take my money are Democrats. It seems to me that the middle class got a rather significant tax increase because of Trump. Democrats want to take more and more from the middle and upper class, minus the ultra-rich who want their huge tax deductions(SALT) and the like. If you aren’t ultra-rich or perhaps the ultra-poor, the left is scamming you.
