This is really all the FOX report says about the acident itself, predictably...

"On Monday December 9, a Rome Police Department officer was traveling in a personal vehicle en route to take his place with the Bomb Squad on a call. This officer was involved in a traffic accident on Redmond Rd near Walmart which has created significant travel delays around the Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks."

So I looked elsewhere on the world wide web and the first search redult regarding the crash itself was an ABC link.

From that report...

''The woman, identified by police as Tammie Pickelsimer, was killed after crashing into a bomb squad member who was responding to the call, according to a statement from the Rome Police Department.''

It goes on to say...

Rome police sergeant and bomb squad member David Metroka was en route to join the bomb squad at their headquarters when he crashed into the 66-year-old Pickelsimer, Georgia State Patrol said.

So...who crashed into who? What driver error/recklessness/inattention or whatever specifically caused the crash that killed the woman?

From the reports, the police officer was in a personal vehicle. No other specifics regarding the actual crash have been forthcoming.


ETA: USA Today reports...

''Tammie Pickelsimer, 66, was pulling out of a parking lot onto the road where the officer was driving in his personal car, according to the Georgia State Patrol's preliminary findings. The officer braked and hit her car on the driver's door area. Pickelsimer was transported to the hospital, where she passed away due to her injuries, the GSP said. The crash is still under investigation.

No further comment regarding how fast the policeman was oncoming on the roadway while operating his personal vehicle.
