OK, In the Event of A Power Outage, How are Millions of People Going to Charge their EVs?

Gas stations are one of the first to have power restored. They can be back online days or weeks before residential lines.

You think Gas stations in the near future will not be putting in fast charge EV stations?

The globalist elites control you and steer you right where they want the dumbed down public. The sheep comply and believe it all too. Omfg!!!

EVs are in our future

Conservatives are still trying to spread misinformation to claim EVs won’t work

Sounds like the way they used to argue against horseless carriages
And they had legitimate complaints AT THE TIME. The first cars didn't have the infrastructure built up to support them, were prone to breakdowns, difficult to drive and were toys for wealthy people to play with. Sound familiar? EV's can only be truly viable for the mass market when battery technology overcomes its current limitations and the power grid is beefed up enough to handle millions of cars being charged at the same time. Liberals don't understand reality and practical things, they believe if they like something and get good feelz from it, that it's already a done deal and anyone raising issues with it is icky and must be cancelled from society. The government has to force everyone to adopt whatever it is they like because peeps is stupid.

As part of GM’s commitment to safety, experts from GM and LG have identified the simultaneous presence of two rare manufacturing defects in the same battery cell as the root cause of battery fires in certain Chevrolet Bolt EVs,” the company announced.

The repairs, affecting over 140,000 cars, could cost Chevy upwards of $2 billion, and comes after 8 vehicles reportedly caught fire.

Squaring off with Tesla, the Bolt received praise when it hit the scene as one of Chevy’s first electric vehicles, receiving MotorTrend Magazine’s coveted 2017 Car of the Year, as well as appearing in Time Magazine’s list of 25 Best Inventions of 2016.

The mid-priced vehicle boasted long road trips of more than 200 miles on a single charge and tank of gas.

However, many Bolt owners have seen their green investments go up in flames………….

Sure they will, and will be shortening the lifespan of the batteries when they do. That's one of the limitations of battery technology. You either have a long recharge time or you spend tens of thousands of dollars to replace a battery pack long before you normally would. That's just one of the problems we will have to solve for EV's to become a majority of the cars on the road.

I'm sure these issues will eventually be solved, but we have to be realistic that EV's will remain a niche until they are.

I saw where the power was lost in a large part of AL last night and is still out.....What of wide-spread power outages due to ice storms, tornados, hurricanes, brown-outs when power can be lost/curtailed for weeks? Where's you EV gawd then?

Seems to me EV should stand for Extremely Vulnerable.
The same way 21st century people do. Generators.

The power grid will evolve as will charging options and strategies

EVs are happening
Fear mongering and misinformation that may have been true twenty years ago are no longer a concern. Batteries are better, much better. The cars are engineering marvels

I can’t believe we still have Conservative posters still posting gloom and doom about EVs

$4 a gallon gas will be the turning point for EVs. With cheap gas, people did not want to invest in EVs. Now, those buying new cars will seriously consider them.

EVERY Auto Manufacturer is seriously investing in EVs and new technologies
They don’t want to plan their future around internal combustion

And that's the way the market is supposed to work. Liberals don't like to let the market figure out how and when to introduce new technologies, they demand that the government pick winners and losers and force people to adopt things before they're ready to do it.

Government primed the pump for gasoline powered cars. They need to do the same today.

The biggest concern to date has been the scarcity of charging stations. People didn’t want an EV because they were afraid they wouldn’t find a place to charge it. Private industry did not want to invest in charging stations because there were not enough EVs on the road.

That is how automobiles had to start. Do you think that gas stations were everywhere when cars started showing up?

Self-charging vehicles are starting to be produced also.

I envision future EVs will have solar panels on their roofs
Private homeowners who were reluctant to put solar panels on their homes will do so to charge their cars

That will help, but how much it will help and how expensive it is is the question.

Actually just the opposite

Could an EV power a home in an emergency

Sep 08, 2020 · Could an EV power a home in an emergency Startups entering the Vehicle-2-home space. While the idea of using EVs to power your home has been done in Japan for... EVs that can be used to power a home.

The Tesla S battery capacity can run a house (vital services) for a week.

So having an EV in your driveway means you can use it as an emergency battery when the lights go out.

The new Ford F 150 Lightning can do the same

More reason for Conservatives to hate them

The battery capacity of the Tesla Model S ranges from 100 kWh on newer models to 104 kWh on older models.

On average, a household consumes 28 kWh of electricity per day. (867 kWh / 30 days)

somebody want to do the math?
