“We’re going to allow, it’s very important, 600,000 students,” Trump told reporters Monday at the White House. “We’re going to get along with China. But it’s a different relationship that we have now with China.”

IMHO there should be no Chi-Com nationals in the country, much less in our schools.

I'll admit I raised both eyebrows when I saw this and the first impulse is absolutely not. That would more than double the number of Chinese students that had been studying the USA recently, a third more than the maximum number of Chinese students who have studied here at any given time.

But I have learned to wait to see what we get in return. What the deal actually is.

Trump has been so strong in protecting the USA from Chinese mischief and tactics harmful to us that I can't imagine he won't continue to do that. He has something up his sleeve here. Best to wait and see what that is.

The presidents were "skeptical of many of the claims, but many of them receive U.S. government research money," says a participant briefed at the meeting and who is not authorized to speak publicly.

I reckon the vast majority will be those whose families support their coming here to study. I don't think China is demographically in a position to deliberately remove more women from a population without enough. Just speculation.
