My point is about billionaires buying government protection and benefits. They buy the politicians to get the policies enacted that benefit them. This distorts everything and explains why we have non-stop wars that enormously benefit the billionaires, along with a failed but ridiculously expensive Healthcare system. This is why manufacturing was moved off-shore resulting in great harm to the working class, but greatly enriching billionaires. This is why we’ve had open borders and a huge influx of immigrants who reduce our wages, but greatly enrich billionaires. And on and on….

Unless they were part of the management.

Also, right now I an retired and on Social Security. That means I am about as poor as you can get in this country. Being able to afford a car even if it was given to me for free is FAR beyond my means. Also, I get food stamps. I also get an additional food allowance through my insurance coverage. (Which is free) They give me more of a food allowance than food stamps do. Even then, I CAN'T AFFORD TO ******* EAT!!! Though I could easily enough if I wanted to just eat Ramin Noodles all the time. Another thing is that right now I have 16 dollars to last me a week. I might be able to buy enough food to get me to the 1st of next month. But it will be tight.

I'm retired too. But I have three jobs. (Call them side gigs if you want, the point is they bring in income). Between the three, it's enough to pay a mortgage on one house, rent on another, and put two kids through college. My situation is not unique. Yours isn't either. Unless you're in the first year of SS you can make as much money as you want. Be clever, look for a gig. I just turned down 240k a year because I make more doing what I'm doing. I'm a scientist, I own a business, and I'm a music producer. Business is great, there's more work than I can handle. Yes, it pisses me off to see old people rummaging through trash cans before the first of the month. I don't have to be one of them. Neither do you.
