The employee could have said that yes, but the employer still could fire the employee based on it's mission statement and protocols when it comes to servicing it's customer's regardless of their religious beliefs or their secular affiliations.
Employers are required to provide reasonable accommodation based on employee religious values.
If they fired them without providing accommodation, it would violate anti discrimination laws
But that’s just saying if it was against their religion, which, you know why not?
