All the original precautions were when we were worried of a 4% perceived mortality rate being 8% or worse if we got the math wrong in that direction. Now that the true number is pushing towards less than 1% and only really an issue in compromised population, it's idiocy to keep the same attitude towards the virus we had in March-May.

A perfect example of the viruses impact on younger populations is with all the sports positives we have been getting.

Trump probably honestly believes overreacting to the virus is more of a threat to our country than underreacting at this point. The downward trend in mortality is probably one factor in his favor, as well as his own survival and the obvious low impact cases in the sports world among a population we expect low impacts in.

Now the mask thing is far closer to actual lying, but it was lying with a purpose, i.e. trying to prevent a run on masks when production wasn't even high enough to cover 1st responders and medical staff.

The virus was NOT already here in late January in any meaningful way, we were barely out of the impeachment scam at that time and talk was of the virus in China and trying to keep it from spreading here.

In late March, there still wasn't a known virus case within 200 miles of me.

Things did not really get going until the end of February, at which time there were few cases here and it was very unclear how it would progress much less the right way to handle it with the American people. On top of that, all Trump can do is be the figurehead to announce the federal guidelines on TV, it is still up to the state governors and local municipalities and ultimately up to the individual, on how to follow it if at all, and we quickly found out in April - May that many governors were going to do their own thing.

Bottom line, not only are we pretty much still right in the curve of expectation and prediction if we did all the right things, and with a great deal of public resistance at that, we've tried to keep down all the collateral damage as best as possible which you like to ignore, to all the millions of lives and businesses destroyed so far by the shutdowns! The destroyed life savings, the destroyed businesses, the suicides, the damaged lives, the missed operations and medical procedures, all ignored by you, and on top of that, YOU HAVE NO IDEA what anyone else, Nancy or Joe Biden would have done different if anything at all, had they been in Trump's place back 10 months ago when he was calling Trump a xenophobe for closing international travel with Chinese coming in from China.
