Neither did government control of the economy. What led to the economic boom years was the fact that the rest of the world's manufacturing capabilities had been bombed flat. we had the monopoly. I don't assume conservative like blanket support on my part for everything any politician does, I would support something more like the Iceland model of dealing with an economic disaster. They've put no one in jail or done a fucking thing to make sure another lousy Wall Street bubble does not drag us all down to abject poverty and for that I am sorely disappointed in our "liberal" president.
