Interesting. What a deceptive OP.

First off, it's presented as if this is a current event dated October 14, 2014 when in reality, it took place June 1 2009. Here is a complete transcript: Transcript of the Interview of the President by Laura Haim Canal Plus 6-1-09 The White House

Here's the relevant quote (in entirety):

Now, the flip side is I think that the United States and the West generally, we have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam. And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. And so there's got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.

June 2nd, 2009 Fox Nation (the same ones who tried to claim Obama attended Madrassas and pushed the birther crap) ran this deceptive headline: Obama Says U.S. Is a 'Muslim Country'

Now, in terms of what he actually said - "we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" - that's debatable. However - as of 2010: the US ranks 35th in the size of it's Muslim population. That's 35th out of 231 countries. So yes...in proportion to the number of countries in the world - we do, even though it's quite small in our overall population.

The OP quotes original source Israel News - Obama defines US as Muslim Country - JerusalemOnline - has taken it and implied (without once mentioning the actual event date) that it is contemporaneous.

Under the article date of October 14, 2014 - the first paragraph reads:

A few days ago President Obama, in an interview he gave France's Canal+ TV Channel, said that the American people need to be better educated about Islam, since US could and should be regarded as a Muslim country. He said that the number of Muslims residing in the US makes it "one of the biggest Muslim nations".

What a shameful peace of "journalism" fraud. Not once does it say it's from 2009.
