So they would use the people-of-NY’s money to operate stores where the people-of-NY could buy groceries? liberals always want more government control.
“Frightened movers and shakers said that a Mayor Mamdani would be “disastrous” for New York City — with some loath to speak out publicly for fear of ticking off progressives and galvanizing the Queens assemblyman’s lefty, anti-business base.”

The capitalism you're referring to caused there to be 1 in 24 New Yorkers to be millionaires, while simultaneously having 1 in 4 New Yorkers being in poverty.Crap like this happens when we misapply capitalism, and wealth imbalances get far too out of whack.
People start looking for alternatives, and bad ideas get air.
The capitalism you're referring to caused there to be 1 in 24 New Yorkers to be millionaires, while simultaneously having 1 in 4 New Yorkers being in poverty.
That's the disparity that capitalism brought about.
The American people have had it up to here with the inequalities and that is why Cuomo is going to lose today.
Oh he'll be the establishment rightwing scumbag he is and run as an "Independent", but he'll get trounced in the general election.
Thank God this will be the end of his political career.
I'm a comfy capitalist, but the big mistake the Right makes is to think that regulation is the bane of capitalism. The fact is, smart and efficient regulation is a critical component of capitalism. Without it, not only do you get increasing wealth disparities, you get disasters like the 2008 Meltdown. The capitalism you're referring to caused there to be 1 in 24 New Yorkers to be millionaires, while simultaneously having 1 in 4 New Yorkers being in poverty.

It's not just "other ideas" though, people simply want temperance. As you rightly stated, regulation is a critical component of capitalism.I'm a comfy capitalist, but the big mistake the Right makes is to think that regulation is the bane of capitalism. Then, yeah, people start looking for other ideas. So it's just a self-inflicted wound.

For too long we've had reckless capitalism on steroids, at the expense of everything else and everyone. This mindset is coming to an end.
