It is stupid to put murderers in prison for life....unless it is shortened to one month. But, on the other hand, most so called Americans are so stupid they routinely & falsely convict people of crimes.

It was made because the Men of Massachussetts excercised their Right to regulate their public servants. The rich people were using the courts to steal peoples houses and farms for debts incurred in the civil war against English control. The super rich did not like that, so they organized a private army, headed by a guy named George Washington Knox. Not one so called Patriot involved in making the "Constitution" objected to that private army invading Massachussetts.
