Former Trump aides say Vladimir Putin convinced president Ukraine tried to sabotage his 2016 victory | Daily Mail Online
"President Trump was convinced by Russia’s Vladimir Putin that Ukraine tried to stop his election in 2016 even though his own intelligence agencies told him there was no evidence to support the claim, according to a new report.
The Russian leader reportedly persuaded Trump that it was Ukraine which meddled in the election during a July 2017 meeting in Hamburg, Germany.
One former senior White House official told The Washington Post that Trump repeated to aides that he knew Ukraine was guilty because ‘Putin told me.’"

Stephanie Grisham spent more than 5 months appearing exclusively in pro-Trump media -- until impeachment
"Since starting her job on July 1, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has given zero briefings and amassed a five-month-plus streak of appearing exclusively in pro-Trump media outlets like Fox News. It wasn’t until the House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump on December 18 that Grisham finally gave on-camera interviews to any mainstream media outlets."

Russian Disinformation Distorted Reality in Ukraine. Americans Should Take Note.
"As the 2020 U.S. presidential election approaches, pundits in the United States are naturally looking back to 2016 in an effort to predict just what form Russian interference will take this time around—especially after former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony on Capitol Hill last month, during which he warned, “They’re doing it as we sit here.” To understand the threat, Americans would do well to look at previous Russian disinformation campaigns. To gain a fuller picture of just what Russian interference could look like in 2020, it is necessary to look back at the Kremlin’s hybrid war in UkraineTo gain a fuller picture of just what Russian interference could look like in 2020, it is necessary to look back at the Kremlin’s hybrid war in Ukraine from 2014 to 2016."

The only thing Americans seem to agree on these days is they disagree about virtually everything political. I'm not to saying the origin for this disagreement doesn't go back years, it does. The radicalization of the GOP can be traced to the rise of conservative talk radio in the 80's, a consequence of Reagan's repeal of the Fairness Doctrine.
Reagan's Veto Kills Fairness Doctrine Bill
Since that time news media in all forms has become more polarized, reflecting the personal politics of the populace.
So, here we are. Science is rejected, facts are claimed to be subjective, inveterate liars have credibility, and unflattering news coverage is dismissed as fake.
The salient question is...............can this circumstance be fixed? Can we return to a time when we can rationally discuss the solutions to our problems without getting bogged down in arguments about the nature of those problems.
I am not optimistic.
