dude, the cargo is sitting on the docks waiting to be transported. They actually had the nerve to blame that on a shortage of truck drivers. I live near a rail line, and the amount of containers that traverse the rails hourly is astounding. They are intentionally holding the inventory at the docks. They could load them on trains and move it out so other ships could dock.Are all of America's ports jammed up? Or is it just in a handful of ports? Maybe if some of the cargo could be diverted from New York to Erie, PA or Jacksonville FL (example given)?

gotcha. I'm laughing.It gets a bit more complicated. Shipping by rail tends to be more expensive and is typically limited to freight that needs to be shipped further distances. If not mistaken 35% of the containers coming to L.A. will leave by rail. Trucks are more cost effective on short trips and can go more places. While there is a truck driver shortage across the country, it's even worse in California. Couple years ago most truck drivers were independent contractors, then CA passed AB5 which said they had to become employees...which helped create the current backlog at ports.
