I remember the earthquake well. It happened at 4:30 in the morning while I was eating breakfast in my upstairs Santa Paula apartment. My daughter ran into the room wondering what was happening. The hanging lamp over the table was swinging in a circular motion. It was a strange feeling, like being in a bucket of sand. I opened the entrance door and witnessed the water splashing from the swimming pool. The next few days were quite the event. No electricity. Stores closed except for the Thrifty Drug, where they were selling batteries and ice at the door.
I remember it well.
Open the link and view the hotel in Fillmore. The owner of that hotel was also the owner of the apartment building where I lived in Santa Paula.
