No, We Will Not Sacrifice Our Parents And Grandparents At The Alter Of Trumps Economy

You can't really consider daily kos with any degree of seriousness. We already treat our elderly with a huge dollop of contempt.
'Splain to me how that is good? I do not see it.
Good? Of course it's not good. It is reality. Concern for the elderly is a phenomenon born of Trump hate. Otherwise democrats will still laugh at the knock out game videos on you tube.

Texas Lt Gov Dan Patrick bluntly said what trump has been saying more subtly with his 15-day plan to open up businesses and schools — that grandparents should sacrifice their lives to save the economy for the children. Also, he is implying that there are only two (false) choices — save the economy or let the elderly die.

In the video segment below, Tucker Carlson, instead of being his usual chatty and nasty self, listens in silence, probably thinking of his parents, and asks a question in the end —

Tucker: You are basically saying that this disease could take our life, but that’s not the scariest thing to you, there’s something that would be worse than dying.

Patrick: Yeah

The party of life ladies and gentlemen. I just can't figure out why nobody takes them seriously.

Spoken like a true ignorant fool.

If the economy collapses so will we,

Grandparents will not get the medicare nor social security if the economy collapses

If If food producers don't get paid they won't produce , there will be panic & misery

You and the Lt Governor should move to Cuba, Venezuela Somalia or any other communist paradise.

Leave it to the Daily Kook to leave out the fact that the Democrats can limit their exposure by having their welfare and food stamps direct deposited to their EBT cards....

Funny you should mention Welfare. There are more party of the rump voters on welfare than any other one group. The poorest states with the highest per capita number of welfare recipients are all deep red states. You have a backward firing gun on your hands.
Gee, maybe the red states should ban Democrats from living there...

Hardly surprising, we see that in a two-party split, 60-80% of welfare recipients are Democrats, while full time Workers are evenly divided between parties.

And Welfare is run by the State which are Republican. You just can't stand it that the mismanagement is done primarily by Republicans. Now take a look at just a state like Alabama that has a dominant Republican population. Yet it has a higher per capita of people on Welfare than even California or NY does.

Don't fret over it...

The Democrats have gotten Liberal judges to block a lot of the "welfare to work" programs, but after Trump has 4 more years of appointing federal judges (and stacking the SCOTUS), I'm sure the programs will be instituted....

Then we can make the worthless Democrats get JOBS!!!

Actually, the Nevada Governor mostly certainly will. And he's a Dem. Get COVID in his state, you're not getting the malaria drugs. You can just be sick and die for all he cares.

The USA has achieved soylent green: Kill the old so the young can eat.

So much for the greatest healthcare in the world and the greatest nation in the world. Great nations are judged on how they treat the weakest among them.

Make America Great Again?

If we go into a great depression over this, there will be a lot more people dying from poverty than this virus over the long haul and it will include the young. Be selfish. Nice

Patrick is right and he should be commended for telling America the truth...

The elderly people who die from this should be considered brave patriots who sacrificed their lives for the betterment of our economy and our country.....

Their sacrifice will be remembered.....but more people will die if we don't get this economy back roaring again.....again, think about all of the mass suicides that will take place if people lose half their retirement or their business, jobs, etc

It's almost like those governors who refused to expand Medicaid in their state because they didn't want so many people getting health insurance.....yea, people may die because of it -- but so what

Then keep them quarantined...problem solved.

Really, all polemic aside, you should be ashamed of yourself for such a disgraceful distortion.

If we'd stop listening to demagogues like you and base our response measures on facts, we'd be focusing on the elderly instead of needlessly closing our schools and shutting down half our economy.

So far, it hasn't worked in Republican run states. In fact, the Dem Run States send money to the Republican run states to pay for their welfare. When is reality going to set in to you. There is only one rich Republican run state and that is Texas and yet, it's still on of the highest welfare states in the nation. The others are dirt poor and require the Blue States to send them money to pay their bills. So much for fiscal conservatism.

Explain how $$$ is more important than lives.
Every 1% increase in unemployment results in approx 37,000 more deaths for that year.
This is not a fact because a lot of assumptions have to be made. But it does point to a cause and effect of the economy does result in additional deaths.

$=Lives

Nor will we sacrifice economic liberty for you commie fucks.

.
In a global pandemic, a health crisis, would we be best served by seeking the advice of economists or doctors? Which of those two experts should we look to to solve a medical emergency?

One of the main reasons is California having people sell their house in retirement and relocate somewhere where housing is less expensive. Thus they collect SSI and Medicare/Medicaid in another state, yet they paid into the system when they worked in California. The average age of a Californian is 51 while it is 53 in Mississippi. The growth of Pheonix to the 5th largest city in the nation is due to this phenomenon. So you casting about with this type of information is disingenuous. There is a lot of other things that goes into why. You haven't even touched upon one of them.

One other point - Correlation does not imply causation for the case of Dem vs Repub states. States with large cities and HUGE populations have a liberal bent. This also skews the data.

So tired of this type of disinformation - this is typical of "talking points" that people throw out that have no basis and no real study done. Find me a study that isn't skewed and proves out your theory of "Dem" state vs "Repub" state. It's all bullshit.

Yes, most normal parents and grandparents don’t want their children’s futures squandered because they are afraid of catching a flu virus.

Old people like that can self quarantine without much issue, after all most are retired anyway.

It’s also not as if younger people aren’t being effected too. Many cases involve 25 - 45 year olds. They don’t want the economy ground to a halt and they don’t want to lose their jobs and investments.

So get used to it, we aren’t destroying the economy in a vain effort to avoid this virus.

So you’re going to be the first kool aid drinker to down your cup for the leader right? Go ahead and show us how you’re willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.

California retired people are NOT moving to Alabama and Georgia, two of the worst welfare states in the nation. The worst is Louisiana. People are NOT moving from the west or the north to those three locations. You seem to want to remove them from the equation. They ARE the equation.
