A number of records for the Earth’s climate were set in 2017:

• It was the warmest year on record for ocean heat content, which increased markedly between 2016 and 2017.
• It was the second or third warmest year on record for surface temperature – depending on the dataset used – and the warmest year without the influence of an El Niño event.
• It saw record lows in sea ice extent and volume in the Arctic both at the beginning and end of the year, though the minimum extent reached in September was only the eighth lowest on record.
• It also saw record-low Antarctic sea ice for much of the year, though scientists are still working to determine the role of human activity in the region’s sea ice changes.

As far as windmills go, you are going to see more and more of them, as they are a more economical way of producing electricity than fossil fuels or nuclear. Same for solar. Both will continue to increase at a high rate in our nation for that reason. And the stupid treasonous asshole that is currently President can do nothing to prevent that.

January of 2018 began and ended with satellite-era record lows in Arctic sea ice extent, resulting in a new record low for the month. Combined with low ice extent in the Antarctic, global sea ice extent is also at a record low.

There is a lot of snow because the air is warmer and holding a lot more water vapor. The temperature is warmer than normal, when you consider the globe as a whole.

The sun is putting out slightly less TSI, and there is no other way to explain the increase, when we should slowly be decreasing by the Milankovic Cycles, other than GHGs that we have put into the atmosphere.

Solar is far ahead of wind but still decades away from being reliable.
I’m for an “all of the above” Strategy. But alternative energy is still decades away from being reliable and affordable, till then we might as well use everything we have. Why not?
