No President has a good second term, so why do you think Trump will?

He hasn't done a thing, other than ranting on X at 3:00 AM, which you are, no doubt, signed up to get an alert for.

So, without getting into policy or politics, the reality is that Presidents never have good second terms. There are reasons for this. While in a first term, a President will try to burnish his credibility by appointing Senators and Governors to key posts, in a second term, he's more likely to appoint loyalists who are less likely to say, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." They are more likely to have scandals.

Let's review recent history, shall we?

Obama - Lost the Senate in the midterms. Mired in the IRS fake scandal.
Dubya Bush- Iraq war went south, Katrina, and the economic crash of 2008.
Clinton- Monica Lewinsky
Reagan - Iran Contra, the 1987 Stock market crash
Nixon- Watergate
Johnson - Vietnam, Race Riots, Civil unrest
Because

i believe trimp47 will declare himself the greatest 2nd term ever if he blows up 1/2 the world and impoverishes the other.

his fans , and the ny times, will agree.

Except nothing he proposes is going to fix the problem of immigration.

Walls and deportations don't work. We've been trying that shit for 30 years, and if anything, we've made it worse.

The only precedent we have for non-consecutive terms is Grover Cleveland. His second term was such a fucking disaster the Democrats didn't get back into the White House for another 16 years, and only then because the Republicans fought among themselves.

50.3% against a substitute opponent is not a mandate. It was more like a resignation.

10-20 million didn't come in illegally under trump. That happened under biden harris. Now, this problem must be fixed. Its time for deportations and law.

:itsok: kind of still stings a bit?... good...

We should all laugh----------->he doesn't need a super majority if he and his party controls all 3 branches. They just pass things through reconciliation; which is EXACTLY what the Democrats did when they had all 3 branches during the 1st 2 years of Biden. Why do you think the Left was so damn excited when Warnock won in Georgia! It wasn't they loved him, but rather because they controlled all 3 branches, they could do whatever they wanted.

But remember my friends-----> when the Democrats got control of all 3 branches, the FAAAAAAAR Left jumped ship, remember, lol. Oh yes they did! They demanded change to all the new legislation being put forth. Do you remember AOC being called into Pelosi's office-)

Point is----------->Almost all the changes the far left wanted got put in; and wouldn't you know it was THOSE changes and actions, that cost the Democrats the whole ball of wax this time! GOPers should BEWARE, and make sure they do not make the same mistake. Do they have a MANDATE? Yes they DO, a MANDATE on what Trump said he wanted to do.............not crazy stuff that arrogant politicians in congress wants because Trump won!

The world started blowing up under the current biden harris incompetence. Trump has to fix it.

History.

It doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

Going back to the point, which President has had a "Good" Second term?

Trump lucked out that Democrats failed to admit Biden's failing health, but now they are the ones with the guy who will have failing health. Trump is already showing signs of senile dementia.

Nope

So no matter how badly he performs… you’ll defend him

Color me shocked

Most of the public is concerned about paying down their debt and trying to eat....no time for Performance reviews.
This vote was a desperation vote....lefty needs to recognize that before he can regain credibility.

Wow

Just wow

Wanna know why Trump won? Seriously, and honestly!

Because Biden was supposed to be a moderate. He said he was, and Americans believed him. He was supposedly much more moderate than Trump, and Biden was gonna bring us all together, remember!

Well a funny thing happened in that election! The Dems won all 3 branches of government, and for 2 years could do whatever they wanted.

Never let it be said that the FAAAAAAAR Left won't take advantage of the situation, and I suppose politically, as well they should. Look at what they did------------->jumped off the Biden train and demanded FAAAAR LEFT ideas be added to all the new legislation; and they got their wish.....much to the chagrin of the American people. Even Pelosi called much of the SQUAD into her office to settle the situation. The SQUAD barely budged at all.

America this time said----------> no more. Look at what these crazies have done. Virtually every issue besides abortion, Trump was in the lead.........and almost 70% of Americans said that we were going in the wrong direction.

To be totally honest------>I can NOT believe Kammy and the Democrats got as many votes as they did. By rights.......and I suppose if you put a carbon copy up not named Trump........the electoral count for the GOP might have been 340 or more!

I don't agree with that, at all.

Trump's second term was from 2020 to 2024..... The Dems

Kept him in the news
Gave him a free platform
Obviously targeted him with Lawfare
Called his supporters retards and pervs
Danced naked in the streets, literally
Told parents their kids don't belong to them
looked the other way while Ukrainians made billionaires out of their generals from US Tax money
Told people they were unpatriotic for not wanting to pay 500 bucks a month for electricity

Trump had an extremely successful second term...

Now he can have a Really good Third term.

Kinda wondering the logic behind this.

First, the list is BS.

Obama may have lost the senate in 2014, but he got his butt handed to him (the HOR) in 2010.

The economy FINALLY got rolling in his second term.

Clinton got his butt handed to him in the first term 1994 with a massive red wave into the house.

Clinton had a great second term, aside from his famous BJ. He left a very popular president.

Johnson didn't have an actual second term.

Dubya started the war in 2003. It just didn't catch up to him until 2006.

And is this whole thing to say we needed to elect Harris because her first term would have been good based on this garbage list. There are lots of 1 term presidents....for a reason.

Thats not accurate

We have never had the sort of border security that trump is planning to do

The wall has yet to be built, nor do yet we have the necessary ability to monitor the border

Till the border is secure deportations are not very effective

But we will

There are many cases of people being deported many times who simply return because they can
