No Mow April

I’ve been observing no mow January all my life.
I have to confess, I believe it was January when I "mowed" a section of my yard in winter because it was a decent day and I wanted to mulch up all of the leaves so that when Spring came, the lawn would grow better. The neighbors must have thought I was nuts.

I mow my lawn but unlike others heck bent on that perfect lawn I don't care if dandelions overtake my yard. I refuse to spray poison on it. Thats just giving some lousy corporation that hurts living things money so the lazy ceo can go golfing all day every day.
.

Dandelions are often the first food for bees, so I like to see them growing out by my fruit trees.

If the bees, die, so do we.

I "mow" my "yard" a few times a year with a torch. The last thing I need is grass.
.

I wish I could just replace my front lawn with gravel, but the guy who mows my lawn appreciates the income.

When I lived in Florida, I mowed my lawn once a year whether it needed it or not. Large trees shaded the ground so much that the sandy soil would not support much grass. The only real grass I had was right next to the street.

Most people do not realize that our leaves fell in February.

I remember some people started saying not to rake the leaves in fall so they would be covered in snow in the winter and fertilize the grass in the spring. Not sure if that's still a thing.

We have that issue in the front yard and half the back. The previous house was just trees and scrub, no grass or weeds whatsoever.
