“There was a phenomenal turnout in Willimantic,” Johnson said. “The line of protestors stretched from beyond the corner of Jackson and Main Streets to the Town Hall, with people of all ages showing up with signs protesting the current administration, ICE actions and tariffs. People are unhappy with the direction this country has been heading under the Trump administration, and I think Saturday showed that, from one end of the country to the other.”
According to Willimantic Police Lieutenant Josh Clark said everyone participated peacefully.
“Willimantic is a great community consisting of very passionate citizens that care for one another,” Clark said. “We always appreciate when there is safety and peace within our community, especially when people are expressing themselves.”
