No Kings protest Oct 18th

We don't have a king. The founding fathers conceived of a republic. Every one of them despised democracy. The people pretending to push against kings are pushing for queens.

Gee, another thread making light of the protests expected to draw millions of Americans expressing their utter contempt and dissatisfaction with things like this.

Meh, it would be something if it were grassroots. Paid protests are meaningless, sugar pie.

I need to do some grocery shopping in Sioux Falls today, but I'll be home well before the 4PM to 6PM "protest", which will be a mile away from my destination anyway.

Funny thinking about the people I went to high school with who will likely be there, in their wheelchairs, all 75 of them. The ones who haven't died.

Prosecutor Who Rejected Trump’s Pressure to Charge James Is Fired

Santos Is Released After Trump Commutes His Sentence

Teapot Dome. Watergate. They’re Nothing Compared to This.

If you were an authoritarian seeking to influence another head of state, you might offer him a luxuriously appointed Boeing 747 airplane. You might spend big at his hotels or invest in one of the many companies owned by him and his children. You might buy his sneakers, NFTs and other branded products. In the case of President Trump, a potential influence peddler has a vast menu of choices.

But why bother with all that? While campaigning, Mr. Trump announced his cryptocurrency venture World Liberty Financial, and, just days before his inauguration, his namesake memecoin. Anyone can indirectly deliver money to a Trump family entity simply by buying World Liberty’s tokens. Mr. Trump and his family have accrued billions of dollars in paper wealth through crypto ventures owned by the president, his sons and family friends.

trumples ask, "What's all the fuss about?" Now you know three things out of hundreds of reasons to protest.

Not true. They were concerned about a direct democracy and designed a representative one. The irony, in contemporary terms, being they were concerned about the majority subjugating the minority and what we have now is the opposite.
Nopes, but you got the part right about minority subjugation. Which is why these devised the electoral college so urbanites would not take over with their "democracy."

It's 4-6pm? Really? I thought these Saturday things started mid-morning. Or maybe these unemployed losers need to sleep off their Friday weed high.

My wife and I plan on going to the one in Denver but even the town I live in northwest of Denver is having its own protest.
