The idea of Establishment Republicans are somehow going to get the support of the leftards by primarying Trump and getting someone else the nomination is crazy.

Of course, the goal of the Establishment Republicans is to just get rid of the little Trumpsters. I'm sure they want to win, but that would just be a bonus to them. Respectability is what they are really looking for. This is a long term plan for them, maybe they'll be able to challenge the left in 30 to 40 generations of being a loyal opposition.

The establishment Republicans are very comfortable being in the minority.
The perks change very little, and they then get to go to all the fancy parties without having to do any heavy lifting.
